Gran Turismo 5 finally has a double official release date: November 24. I know. I'll believe it when I see it too. And even when I do see it, I probably still won't believe it.
In a statement released today, Polyphony Digital head Kazunori Yamauchi promised that in spite of numerous delays, including one just a few weeks back that pushed the game's release to sometime this holiday, and years of patient (yet vocal) waiting, rabid GT fans will soon realize that GT5 was well worth the wait.
"Our objective with Gran Turismo 5," explained Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi,"was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed."
Yamauchi went on to equate GT5’s tumultuous and demanding development to one of NASA’s most prized accomplishments, saying, "Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program!”
Driving virtual cars isn't exactly the same sport as walking on the moon, but I can understand his excitement and anxiousness. I guess we’ll see if players are knocked in the when Gran Turismo 5 races onto PlayStation 3's in a couple weeks.

WOOHOO!! Finally the king of racing sims is back, we can only hope it's worth the wait, which I'm sure it will be.
Because if it isn't you can pretty much say it's the end of Polyphony Digital.
Now time to go and get that logic tech wheel and warn the Mrs. that I'm going to take over the living room... again lol. In the mean time COD Blacks ops will fill in for entertainment :)

I'll believe it when I see it in stores.

So does this mean that the PS3 crowd will finally have something to play so we won't see them all loitering on the COD and Kinect threads?

This game will change the racing genre, for the better.

Yawnnnnnnnnnn I'll play Forza 3 and wait for Forza 4 and PGR5 to release before i buy a game that has only 200 cars with big damage and full front views. Another upset by Sony which isn't much of a surprise.

Only 6 years in the making, that must be a first for a racing game.
