Over 1 Million More People Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops On 360 Than PS3

David Voderhaar, the design director for Call of Duty: Black Ops' multiplayer, has some angry, angry words for gamers who "twit-bomb" him with videos displaying glitches and/or exploits in Black Ops' multiplayer.

On  the Call of Duty: Black Ops message board, Voderhaar posted:

"We are disinterested in making mini-celebrities out of douche-bags... I got Twitbombed today from dozens of people with the same two links... What many of these people want is to be Internet nerd famous. I'm not going to make them famous and you shouldn't either. Internet hysteria from normal people is exactly what they want and that's how many people reacted today. You gave them exactly what they want."

Voderhaar went on to say he'd like to permanently ban "anyone who thinks he is clever by abusing any glitches. Good thing I don't have the opportunity that often and we actually have a constructive, measured, and well-managed live ops team."

The miffed design director goes on to promise the company will issue patches and hotfixes for reproducible errors, "just like we said we would," and thanks gamers who sent in "polite, constructive messages without the hysterics."

Granted, It's probably a very stressful time to have anything to do with squashing multiplayer bugs in Black Ops, but still, all those people who are forwarding those videos are (presumably) people who bought the game, and care about the multiplayer mode enough to send you videos of glitches. In other words: Your company's most committed customers. Because I am not afraid of being banned from my own site, I will say this publicly: Chill out, man. Yes, many people on the internet are insufferably, unbearably jerky, but still, gamers who find glitches in your game are doing you a service, even if you don't appreciate the reasons they do it or the "hysteria" they create.

Or to put it another way: If there weren't any glitches in the game, there wouldn't be anything to exploit and no one would complain.

wow really? You talk about ther glitchers but how about a vast majority of regular everyday people who bought a completely broke game that was not finished, Sure they are tools for being douches but they did not charge $60 to watch the videos. They charged normal people money for a crap game.

The only messed up things Ive seen with the game is the party system you will get your party all set up then when you try to find a game it says "party no longer available" or sometimes when you have 2 people playing on 1 xbox it will only bring one of them and everyone else is fine, Also the knifing system is really messed up with the whole random 5 foot zoom like the old CODs it's really annoying and commando like, Either have it on or off the random crap screws up the game and it's frustrating.

I totally agree that we should ban any glitchers from games it would make the game more enjoyable to people who are not dicks and only care about getting the highscore. However, there would go more than half COD's players so yeah lets do it. DEATH TO GLITCHERS!!

Here's a question. Who would you rather have over to dinner and break bread with?
    1. XBOX 360 FPS guy
    2. Osama Bin Laden

I for one would rather have Osama over anytime. His company would be a pleasant change from FPS guy on the 360

id like to see one douche-bag out program even one of the staff that made this game. i think these so-called douche-bags should shut the hell up, let these dudes do their work and fix the game and g4 and all the other gaming websites should check themselves for also being part of the problem, (trying to stir up controversy so that gamers come to their websites, read the b.s. and respond to their nonsense as well, ive had it with these gaming websites, G4 you can keep my log in, these and all ther other gaming websites that do this kind of crap are going to implode just like the movie and music industry that are valiantly trying to save their own collective butts by using tricks to fool and fuel controversy.

Unfortunatley Mr. Voderhaar you and your company didn't give gamers what they wanted. A non glitchy game. Shut up, check your bank account and FIX the dang glitches.

I think maybe he is the douchebag. Am I wrong? Unless the videos were essentially rick rolling him, the fans are telling you what needs fixing. If you can't see past that, you need a new job. Now, Voderhaar, would you kindly go back to fixing the lag and stuttering that makes pc multiplayer unplayable like the good dev you should be. Thanks.

I can agree with some parts of both sides of this argument. On one side, I completely understand using Twitter or whatever to bring bad glitches to the game company's attention. On the other hand, relentlessly spamming them with it will probably make them quickly turn a deaf ear to these people. In short: be helpful but don't become a douche about it too.

Cutting the cancer though just prolongs the inevitable. Curing it though gets rid of the problem. I think this is very radical though I can understand from his point of view why he would. I mean just imagine all that time you spent making the online then have people come and abuse it and potentially destroy it. I just hope they find a way to fix i without making extreme changes to the formula alreadylike MW2 did.

Griefers like this should just have their accounts banned, end of story.

Dont worry about fixing the bugs, just get rid of the cause at the source and the problem will solve itself, normal players dont intentionally go around looking for this sort of thing because they just want to PLAY AND ENJOY THE GAME!

Cut out the cancer to save the host as it were, belive me there would be alot less "Nerd-Stars" if that were to happen, then again the MLG might crumble if Halo players might have to actually play the game as it was actually intended.

I mean sure patches are needed and will always be needed but if the attention seeking behavior thats linked to the glitchers were quelled then there wouldnt be people looking for new ones once the old ones get patched out.

He does need to relax, but I'm pretty sure that the Treyarch team is well aware of glitches without a thousand annoying kids sending them links.

Wow, a lot of nerd famous responses on here. To be honest, nerd famous people are a problem because they get a younger audience to do the same actions. Those younger (not just age, but possibly maturity level), turn what is rated as a "mature" game into something that this generation "lulz" about all the time. It isn't enjoyed by some of us to want to fully enjoy the gaming experience. By the way, just because they paid 60 dollars as well do not and should be mean they get to play it "however they want since they paid for it." Minority rights are normally protected in this country, but in this case, the sins of a few do ruin this for the many who also paid a great deal of money. Responsibility is important here, a community like ours should get along instead of alienating some or most.

I have to agree with the Dev. They glitch because they enjoy upsetting other people, it's not a service, they are just pitiful people who know they'll never amount to anything and want to leave some mark of their existence. They are a pox on the ass of humanity. Not because of what they do, glitching is such an insignificant thing, it's the mentality behind the things they do that is appalling. Shame on you for such an apathetic tone.
