According to the BBC, a Star Wars game that uses the Microsoft Kinect controller is coming in 2011, so we may all finally get a decent motion-controlled lightsaber game! I know I've been waiting since the Wii was announced in 2006.
According to Kinect's creative director, Kudo Tsunoda:
"We have a Kinect Star Wars game coming out for next holiday [Christmas 2011]... I think you could just easily imagine being a Jedi and using Kinect to make you feel you're part of a Star Wars experience, building yourself up into a Jedi. I've seen a bunch of the game and it's super compelling."
I think a Kinect Star Wars game could totally work, but in my perfect world, the game would be controlled by a combination of the controller and the Kinect, and each would be used when appropriate. I don't want to fly an X-Wing using Kinect, but I do want to swing a Kinect lightsaber. Know what I mean?

I think it might be the demo video that was shown during E3 when the Kinect was originally announced. Everyone was excitied about it, until they said that it was just a demo video. But from what the video shown, it looked like a third person view and the movement was automatic except when you had to use your force powers.

I hope this comes out for Move as well as Kinect. I know the Move version would be so much better, no lag, true 1-1 tracking. I mean Kinect is so EyeToy technology.

No no no - the move only tracks the dildo which is great if you don't count body English. Kinect tracks your whole body... So lets say you have a toy light saber, kinect will track that as well as your body (ducking, rolls, spins, etc). I could be wrong but it seems like the kinect has the potential to immerse you much more deeply than old-school motion control...

I agree with JustTheBeginning. The move would make the perfect lightsaber game. I don't know about you, but I wanna hold the hilt of the lightsaber, not just position my hand like i'm holding it.
on another note, I really hope this game sucks or is just a novelty. I really don't wanna have to invest in a 360 and kinect just to play this. lol
JustTheBeginning
A hybrid of the two would be the Move... Although I admit it would be pretty cool to hold out your hand and use the force stuff. Although how would you possibly move your character? It will be an instant fail if its on-rails or has tons of aim/walking assist.
