Over 1 Million More People Playing Call of Duty: Black Ops On 360 Than PS3

There are currently over 2.8 million people playing Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC at this very moment, just 16 hours since Treyarch's much anticipated title (legally) hit shelves. Tuesday is still a school day, correct?

More interestingly though is the fact that there are almost 1.5 million more 360 players online than PS3, and over 1.4 million more than PS3 and PC combined.

The official tally looks something like this: 2,156,469 on Xbox 360, 664,982 on PS3, and just 55,071 on PC. Consulting my hallway-length abacus, I see that that is a difference of 1,491,487 for 360 vs. PS3, 2,101,398 for 360 vs. PC, and 1,436,416 for 360 vs. PS3/PC.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing some kind of official statement from Activision later in the week regarding Black Ops’ launch day sales. Of course, those figures won’t include a breakdown of how many sold on each platform, but if I had to guess, I would say that the percentage difference in the number of online players between the two consoles is probably pretty close to the percentage of 360 copies sold versus PS3 copies (i.e. around 3x as many for 360 vs. PS3).

Just for fun, I popped in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare for 360, and there are currently 11,275 devoted players online. I’m going to jump on Modern Warfare 2 later tonight and compare those figures to Black Ops as well, so check back tomorrow for those figures.

yes there is a tiny graphical......uhhh we shall call it blurring.....but the game is solid

1 of the best fps type games i ever have played, better than Reach and MW2 combined.......still doesnt beat BFBC2 though...but we knew it would be a different style.......

more players means more support woot.

...and dont forget yall to check out black ops mini games....good laugh.

I am getting so sick of g4 and their love for Microsoft. Who give a crap about this article, if the game is good on all 3 systems that s what matters. So... Xplay how much is MS paying your staff.

this is truly sad news for PC gamers everywhere and for those who try to defend that PC gaming is not dead. we dont need titles like black ops anyway!

I'm playing it on the 360, but I've only played a small portion. Is it just my imagination, or are the graphics not very good (at least on the 360)? It actually looks like a step down from previous titles. But I love the option of AI controlled multiplayer. If only MW2 would have had that. Then if the cheating starts getting bad, I won't have to give up the game entirely like I did with MW2.

This is because most PS3 owners are smart and don't buy terrible games from Craptivision. Seriously the series was good until WaW, it was alright but not the best. The series really ended at MW2 and they just think they can keep putting out the same stuff every year and charge $60 for it and I for one will not fall for it again. Modern Warfare was a great game but the sequel was just horrible. They just need to leave some things alone and let a series fade out but Craptivision doesn't like to do that very much, they prefer squeezing all the cash they can out of it until they completely drain it, which I believe is coming soon. I know I'll be flamed for this, but I really don't care lol.
