The Microsoft Kinect launched today, and our site shows it, with a ton of Kinect game reviews, opinions and news. The reaction of the Kinect's launch from gamers seems decidedly mixed. While G4's editorial staff is embracing the new device, a lot of you guys aren't psyched at all. Of course, there are quite a few lovers to balance out the haters, but today's Reacharound goes to turboswag who intelligently explains why he won't be playing a Kinect just yet, even though he wants one:
"I own all three systems, and I personally like the PS3 best, HOWEVER, I will give Microsoft props for making me want the Kinect. Personally, I'm not too into motion controls. I easily passed up the Move and my Wii is kind-of collecting dust as well. I don't think I will get the Kinect quite yet. It's more of a waiting game until something good comes out. Either way, I think I'll stick to my controller. Thanks anyway."
What do you guys think? Are you taking a wait-and-see approach as well?

I like idea of motion controls...if they're done right, developers have to stop treating them as a gimmick and give us some immersible gaming options. The best use so far "to me" was shaking goons of your back in Batman Arkam Asylum... it was small but it worked.

I have 4 kids that argue and beat the crap out of each other while playing Xbox 360 games, especially Modern Warfare 2, , so I am looking forward to watching them have to work while playing games. This way they will be too tired to beat each other up. Also I can then jump in and take over;)

Stephen, I actually think that best sums up the opinion on Kinect (outside the fanboys and apparently the reviewers).
It's a cool technology (although it's existed for years), but right now it's kind of useless if you're an actual gamer...

While the notion of being able to do things "The Minority Report" way seems kinda cool, there isn't much appeal to Kinect.Btw, you can't be a hater on something that doesn't interest you and Kinect isn't as interesting. Plus, the new layout on the Xbox Dashboard looks like a knock off of Windows 98. You would think they would make it Windows 7-like to lure people to buy the software, but guess not.

Well, I originally had Kinect preordered. Then I decided that I wasn't going to have time to play around with it due to the semester winding down/finals. Upon further speculation, much like turoboswag there, I realized that I wouldn't really have anything to play if I picked it up right now. So it was best for me to save about 200 and just wait for something to come out that I definitely wanted.
It was a wise decision, I think. Like most others, my Wii collects dust and I don't much care for any other motion controls. I have a PS3 too, and am not interested in Move in the slightest.
