Today's Reacharound concerns the soon-to-be-released Microsoft Kinect. Specifically, reports that Microsoft is predicting sales of five million Kinect units this holiday. My gut says that's a reasonable number, but user Vesuvian Ast3r1x had a personal experience that he thinks indicates that Microsoft is set to own this holiday season:
In my personal experience it will be a hit. ONE major reason is this: My mother who is not the most technologically savvy person in the world came to me one day last week and asked ME what I thought about the Kinect. Now this a person who doesn't always know what combination of buttons brings up the cable guide, so yeah.
Love or hate Kinect, Vesuvian Ast3r1x makes a compelling point. I, too, have had more than one conversation with non-tech-oriented friends and relatives that started, "So, tell me about this Kinect thing..." How about you guys?

What could be bad it cant possibly fail like the HD DVD drive did compared to the Blueray drive prevailed.

If kinect is going to be like any other motion game, your gonna look like an idiot playing by yourself. So that pretty much takes out any hardcore/moderate aspect of it....

at my work i had a couple moms buy a 360 for there family with their kids there to get ready for kinect and between the children and the mom the mom was the one who sounded and looked excited

I am tired of bashing Kinect. Being this the last Kinect-less day, I will just ask G4 why do you keep pumping this crap. It is seems like M$ paid you a portion of the budgeted billion dollar to promote Kinect and other properties from Microsoft. I will restrain from pooping on Kinect until it bombs some time next spring. Have time moving like idiots in your living rooms.

Yes. My mom wants a kinect for our house and one for my sister and brother-in-law's place so she can see her grandchild more. Score two for Microsoft.
