According to a report on GI.Biz, publisher Ignition Entertainment has shut down its Florida office. The company published Black Light Tango Down and my own, personal favorite game, wacked-out horror title Deadly Premonition.
According to GI.biz's source, “Several members of the UTV Ignition Corporate Office in London came in [to the Florida studio] with police officers, and asked the 70 members of staff including the GM and executive producer to pack up their stuff and go home.”
Ignition was working on a game called Reich, which may now never see the light of day.
A representative for Ignition told Gamasutra: "We are continuing the Florida Studio’s project but refocusing it in the right direction. UTV Ignition will make an official news release regarding the studio soon."
Layoffs are always terrible news, and we feel for the people affected, but to remind us all of better times, let's look at a video for Deadly Premonition, a title which may be the high water mark of Ignition's run as a video game publisher.
