The Rock Band 3-enabled Fender Squier guitar that we've heard about has been dated and priced. You'll be able to rock out with the device beginning on March 1, 2011, and it will set you back $279.00. Pre-orders begin on January 1.
Before you balk at the price, consider that the device is an actual, full-size, 22-fret, maple-necked Fender electric guitar that can play Rock Band 3's pro guitar mode as well as playing through an amp, and that price is comparable to a regular Fender electric that doesn't play a video game. In other words: This isn't a toy. It's a legit musical instrument you can use to control a toy. You can even plug it into both an amp and Rock Band 3.
Check out the official site for more details.
I'm saving up my dollars to pick up one of these babies. What about you? Are you planning to pick up a Squier when these hit the streets?

hell yes im getting one! i dont know why you wouldnt want to, its a real guitar AND it plays RB3 Pro mode. yea its $280, but in the long run its worth it. ill be counting down the days!!

I find that many people scoff at the price, not realizing its about the same price that I bought my guitar and my bass. This is no toy, not by a long-shot... and even on the site its described as "You can take it to an audition, and no one would know the difference unless you told them." This is a genuine instrument, and the fact I can play Rock Band Pro on it, pretty much makes it a must buy for any serious musician.

Can't I just plug in another Electric Guitar?

What a gyp, you can get a squire of the exact same quality bundled with an amp for almost 200$ cheaper.
Even if you buy it be aware that squires are pretty bad.
The only reason I would ever buy this is so I can play pro mode, but from the looks I'll just wait (and you should to) for the price to go down.

I think I'll stick with the pro controller first until I get actually good at pro mode, then I might think about picking this up in the future

I think this is a great guitar for everyone of all skill levels because you can get a decent guitar at a low cost that not only works in a video game but real amps as well. I too wonder if it is compatable with other systems or is it console specific?
I wonder though, if you can have other keyboards with a USB connection work in your systems, could you not develop an adapter for guitars other then the two provided to be used as well? I mean maybe it's just me but I think if you could spend $40.00 on an adapter; that would work with current guitars out on the market with perhaps a software update, as opposed to spending 300.00 on a new guitar, that would be pretty bad ass. Thoughts?

I am stoked. To all you musicians bitching about it being a Squier, Rock band is sponsored by fender, and I am sure they want to make pro mode with a real guitar available to all, not just the ones who can afford a 700 dollar stratocaster. The squier is an inexpensive starting point, and I will be buying one.

i'm wondering if this works on both the 360 and ps3?

I bought a Fenders Strat about five years ago, hoping to have learn more than a few chords by now but to no avail. Now I will buy this to get through the basics and also play the game. I bought it form guitar center used when they were having a big sale but this is more like the price that I expected to pay for it then so I'll pay it now for the opportunity to do both.

That's way too much, I'll wait for a price drop. The thing is I never liked the guitar since you need to keep moving your hand to different buttons/frets. I never play above medium so I only have a button per finger. The drums are much easier to play on expert. The cost prevents that tiny desire to try the pro mode tutorials to see if they help.

it would be awesome if they realeased a bass cause is not the same to playing guitar. however why would anyone hate guitars?(djschmitty).
DJSchmitty
I'm getting one. To bad they don't have a bass coming out for it instead. I hate guitars!

well my bad I didn't notice that it played the game two. Still over priced go on ebay get a plastic guitar and an eppiphone for that much money

Squire guitars suck and this guitar sucks two you can get a regular squire for about $179.00 new from Guitar center. If you really want a good started guitar you should check out the Eppiphones they start at the same price two. THat being said Squire does however make a good bass guitar and that will run you around $214.00.
