Nintendo is, understandably, keeping the Mario 25th anniversary train rolling as the publisher announced today it will be releasing an enhanced and updated version of Super Mario All-Stars for the Wii this December.
Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition includes four classic Mario titles (Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros. 2, and Super Mario Bros. 3), a Super Mario History soundtrack CD, which will be the first official release of Mario’s iconic “Ground Theme,” and a 32-page Super Mario History booklet filled with art, interviews, and the like.
All of this Mario-loving goodness can be yours on December 12 for $29.99.

Oh, Wait... I'll just hook up my SNES and play it now. I guess it's easy money to repackage an old game in a new format since there's not a lot of work involved in doing it.

Since I didn't buy the games on the Virtual Console and went with Sega Genesis during the 16 bit wars, this will definitely be a buy come December. The $29.99 price tag is appealing and I like the extras they give you.

This definitely is a purchase for me considering I never bought the games on the Virtual console and went with Sega Genesis during the 16 bit wars. The extras they give you also are pretty good for the $29.99 price tag. I just found a new want for Xmas.

The Same Old - Same Old. Every time Nintendo has a new system ( eg. Wii ), eventually they always try to sell you the same old games that you likely have already bought 3 or 4 tmes before.
There the same old games you played on the Super Nes and N64 except now there for the Wii. Give us all a break Nintendo; have you ever thought about making BRAND NEW GAMES, WITH BRAND NEW CONCEPTS.

I let one of my friends barrow this game on my SNES biggest gaming mistake I ever made.

I purchased a SNES Mini still brand new in the box. The guy also through in the all in one cartridge like above except it also had Super Mario World in it.
So I have the best of both worlds in one cartridge!!
Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World!
This will definitely be a buy since it's on my birthday!!

So basically I can play the exact same games you can download for free on emulators, but pay $30 bucks for it? KTHX Nintendo.

Aren't all of these games $5 each on the Wii's Virtual console?

29.99, 49.99, 59.99 who cares I am up for it! Bring it on.

$29.99? Really? How about I just pop in my cartridge that I picked up for for free from Nintendo waaaaaay back when SNES was still in production. They could at least throw a few more games on the disk, like Super Mario World and Mario RPG to round it out a little. It's amost a waste of a disk, especially when those titles (except possibly TLL) are all available on VC. The extra stuff, the CD, the booklet, just don't appeal to me.
I don't mind paying for nostalgia, but you've got to try a little harder than this.

Why is this news?
These games are already available via Wii download.

i remember i had to order this game though a mail order form. i think i still have it, but i don't remember it ever having Super Mario World.
Demonx2D
The extra stuff like the CD would be nice to have, but I think simply re-releasing a SNES game for the Wii with absolutely no changes to it is a bit lazy on Nintendo's part. Especially since they didn't even bother using the version that had Super Mario World. Still, better than nothing I suppose.

YES! I was hoping this wouldn't stay a Japan only title. This is the best news I've read all day(well it was when I read about it earlier).

Ooh...well, found out what my early Christmas present to myself is going to be this year!
Atari_Prime
I completely disagree. Super Mario 2 is the best one in the series.
moosemstng5
Love this but Super Mario 2? That is the only Mario game I for one have never liked.
