Rumor of the Day: A brand new PlayStation Portable is coming out next fall, and will feature a back-of-the-screen touchpad control system, dual analog sticks and a larger, higher definition screen than the current iteration of the system.
The rumors, though, are getting very, very specific.
According to Kotaku's unnamed sources, the PSP 2 was shown off to a select group of insiders at the Tokyo Game Show, and the device they looked at had a touchpad on the back, a screen about an inch larger than the current model PSP, and dual analog sticks.
According to the reports, Sony is still tinkering with the internals of the system, so no final decision has been made as to what will power the PSP 2. Reportedly, Sony is working to overcome the challenges presented by power consumption and heat production, common problems with portable devices..
Like all gaming rumors, take this with a grain of Internet Salt (tm). As we learn more details, we'll report 'em to you, I promise.
