Lock up your grandmas; Billy Joel is coming to town. The famous piano-man will be dropping some of his biggest hits on the Rock Band Network on Dec. 14, including these golden favorites:
- “Big Shot”
- “Captain Jack”
- “It’s Still Rock N Roll to Me”
- “Movin’ Out”
- “Only The Good Die Young”
- “Piano Man
- “Say Goodbye to Hollywood”
- “The Entertainer,”
- “The Stranger”
All these tracks will be available as Rock Band 3 downloadable content with both Keys and Pro Keys parts.
Joel is an obvious choice for the game -- he's probably the most famous piano-playing "rocker" of all time -- but the reason for the inclusion of his songs is kind of interesting. Here's Joel's quote from USA Today:
"I've never allowed my music to be used in a game before," but an Entertainment Weekly review of NBC's The Office changed his mind. Alluding to an episode in which characters mention a Rock Band featuring Billy Joel, "the critic wrote something like, 'God forbid that ever should happen.' So I called my people and said, 'Get me (on) that Rock Band game.' Then I wrote the critic, saying that every time I get a check, I'll give him a little nod."
Ouch! Personally, Billy Joel is one of my guilty pleasures. The king of 1970s yuppie rock's album Glass Houses is a classic. A classic, I tell you! (I am lame.)
Anyway, I can't wait for these tracks. What about you guys?
