We only received our copies of DJ Hero 2 yesterday, but Houston, there's a problem. We encountered an error that prevented us from playing DJ Hero 2 last night, so we promptly contacted Activision to find out what could be causing the bizarre glitch. In testing it seemed related to our friends list, which is capped at 100, for different folks here at G4. Activision has responded by saying that it was well aware of the issue, and that it will be resolved in a title update expected to be released by Friday.
We have to imagine that other outlets who reviewed the game just aren't as popular as we are, as we haven't seen this issue mentioned anywhere else. The official Activision statement and instructions to resolve the problem are after the jump.
"Activision recently learned that some consumers may be experiencing an online friends list issue that may prevent them from experiencing DJ Hero 2. We have taken immediate action to address this issue and a title update providing a permanent fix will be available for download as soon as possible. In the interim, gamers have two options that will remedy this issue that are listed below with step-by-step instructions. In the event that consumers continue to experience a problem, they should contact Activision’s Customer Service Center directly at 800-225-6588. Activision is fully committed to satisfying every DJ Hero 2 fan so they can enjoy a great gaming experience. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your support and patience."
Long story short: Activision suggests either playing offline, or making the tough call and removing one friend from your friend’s list. Good luck making that call; just don't make it us.
We haven't tested out the PS3 version, but based on Activision's statement, it appears the issue exists for that version as well. The PS3 version has apparently received a title update, which has fixed the problem.
Anyone out there encountered this issue? Did one of the two solutions solve the problem?
Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.

Hmm, this isn't helping Koticks image that Activision is the best, at all.

Is this one of the games Adam was referring to in yesterday's Soapbox? Is that why there is no review of the game on G4? Hmmm interesting. Wonder what else is wrong with the game? Or if its good why wouldn't they want all game journalists to evaluate it?

That seems like a pretty major glitch for a game. Maybe they should test these things out next time, like have someone with 100 friends play the game first or rather try to.
