On Monday, I talked about how effective the demo for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was, and how much it made me look forward to playing the full game. Well, I’m currently on chapter nine, and I am absolutely loving it. The game is everything I had hoped it would be. It’s gorgeous, cinematic, the voice acting and facial animations are top notch, and the combat/platforming is perfectly balanced (at least from what I’ve seen so far). The reviews have been mostly positive (ours certainly was), but not nearly as high as I was hoping, and I don’t know how well it sold, but hopefully it’s doing well, because it definitely deserves it. In the end, though, I think Enslaved is destined to become one of 2010’s best, overlooked games.
What I want to find out this morning from you all is: What are some other amazing games that, for whatever reason, were just lost in the shuffle, and ended up becoming diamonds in the rough?

This enslaved game. It kind of played itself. I enjoyed the demo, but felt a bit detached from the game play. I'm thinking this is a good ps3 type game.
$60, no....but maybe $25.
And The Saboteur,...another greatly overlooked game. Thank goodness it came out and didn't die the way This Is Vegas and maybe Ride To Hell did.
The gaming media seems to only care about the Bioshock, Fallout, Halo, and Mass Effect games. But some of us pure gamers are interested in anything that is fun to play.

Faceball for the Snes was a great game! For me the first real FPS for consoles. If this game was online it would have rocked.
I also agree that Darksiders was/is an awesome game. The haters will say it plays like this or that, but the real quest always is,..was it fun. He'll yeah!
Dante's Inferno rocked too!

I just picked up Darksiders and played through it. It is way underrated. From the reviews and the way it just was overlooked I hadn't looked too closely at it before. But I tried the demo and liked it and the full game was a blast. Even the ending is so satisfying I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. It really is like playing Zelda, but with Kratos as the main character instead of the wimpy Link. The puzzles are as good or better than in Zelda and the story and fighting are better. The fighting is less intense than in GoW, though. It is a really good hybrid of the two game styles.

I thought that the Saboteur was an excellent game that was COMPLETELY overlooked. It is such a shame that Tom French and his team failed to receive anything remotely like their due for creating such a massive and exciting story driven action adventure title. It is odd that Just Cause 2 garnered far more critical and popular support when they seem pretty even in terms of what they bring to the table.

I really liked darksiders at the start of the year. I feel not many ppl gave it a chance because it was a new IP and it was just labled a clone of GOW and zelda. I can't wait for the sequel! Another thing is you had to play it on the highest difficulty for it to truely shine. Otherwise it was way to easy and all you had to do was button mash without any thought input.

DiRT 2.

I think the scores got pushed down a bit because reviewers are afraid of new IPs that don't come from big name devs with a lot of games on their track records. The reviews, don't get me wrong, but from everything I've seen this is getting mostly 8 out of 10s, and it's easily a 9 or higher. The only thing that's wrong with it really is the stupid $$*%&%& orbs.
Plus it came out at a really bad time with a bunch of established franchises releasing games around it. Hopefully it will get some attention over the monotonous and repetitive sequels we're seeing and if it doesn't get into the top 10 NPCs, it at least sells enough to warrant a sequel. It deserves it. Could be the next Uncharted.

I haven't got a chance to play Enslaved, but I thought the hype was very low. But throwing a new IP in the mix when people are saving up for many established franchise juggernauts probably wasn't the smartest. It probably would have had a much better chance if they named it Enslaved 2.

its sad that its under the radar. the first time i played it was freakin amazing, so great that i played it a second time, nonstop.

Yeah that's pretty much what i was thinking it would be a great game but because its not one of those huge name games it will get overlooked.

Hey G4!! Are you guys going to cover Krome Studios closing??? It happened Monday, and still nothing on the site?!?!? Is Game room going to continue? What about the other games they had in development?... Anything G4? Anything?!?!?

While not as much of a 'diamond' as the game Starbreeze had released prior, The Darkness seems like a game that was pretty great but didn't do so hot.
Loved Enslaved, by the way. It reminds me of the first Uncharted in terms of quality - a sequel could be a damn fine game, provided Ninja Theory haven't already hit their ceiling.

I have this game and I love it but fir me it's a beyond good and evil remake, and I love it.
