THQ Starts

At a press conference this morning, THQ announced its plans for game developer Patrice Désilets to join the company next summer to form a new development studio housed within its video game development studio in Montreal, Quebec. The studio will employ 400 people.

Désilet, who was creative director on both Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II, left Ubisoft in July 2010 to take a "creative break from the industry." Seems that his vacation did him some good.

"The best way we can deliver fresh, high-quality gaming experiences is by working with the best talent. THQ is delighted to have the opportunity to make a brilliant addition to our team next year with Patrice Désilets," said Danny Bilson, THQ Executive Vice President, Core Games.

Through the opening of the Montreal office, THQ says it would like to "strengthen its internal creative development expertise, furthering its commitment to developing new intellectual properties."
