 Feedback: Reader Questions Needed!

Actually, I have a question of my own. "Are publishers just trying to make us poor?" Sure, having a business means making money, but after the next two weeks, we'll have Fallout: New Vegas, Fable 3, Rock Band 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, and more already on store shelves, with big titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops and Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit breathing down their necks. My wallet cannot survive this. Can yours?

But seriously, let us know what burning questions you have for the Feedback team, especially on this eve of wandering back into the wastelands in New Vegas. Let us know what you want answered, and we'll crank it through the Feedback machine, giving you an answer. Just like the magic eight ball!

what is it with you guys and dance central? there are 2 just dance games and between them there are 3 videos and one news article. Dance central has 4 news articles, a preview, 9 videos, 6 images, and 48 tips, all for a game that isn't out. Can you explain why you haven't even given the game that's success inspired dance central a review yet?

In the gaming market you see game companies trying to push forward in-game player rewards for your in game actions quite frequently. Whether it be a portrait, a new weapon unlock in a FPS, a new title, etc... But with Valve's new game DOTA2 in 2011, they are reportedly attempting to offer in-game player rewards for the player's actions both in and out of game. Whether it be acting as a coach in the game (without playing yourself) to help newbies along, or even putting forth forum guides to help the community play the game better. Do you feel that Valve is onto the next step in the evolution of in-game rewards for players? And if so, which major companies do you think will take notice and try to jump on the bandwagon? If this works, it strikes me as a brilliant move that will not only improve the game itself, but also the community as well.

As an aspiring video game journalist, I can see myself working for different companies such the prestigious G4. I often have a problem with deciding what road to take when approaching this type of career path and I often feel that journalists like myself who are really interested and self-driven for getting into the industry aren't really being pointed the right direction. Colleges and Universities don't do it because most of them don't specialize in specific video game journalism, it's always just journalism (news features, stories, sports, etc).

I am, however, majoring in journalism and I'm currently running a video game review site on the side with a couple of other writers, which can hopefully be used as a portfolio. My question to the panel is this: Do you think that getting into this fun and exciting industry is easier or harder since you've first started? Do you have any other recommendations?

I want to know why is it game publishers are always putting their games out all at once. And in concert with new game peripherals like wii fitness board , playstation move , xbox kinect , wii zapper , rock band instruments and so on. My point being my wallet can't take that kind of blow and considering the financial crisis most of the world is paying no one really has the money to buy all of these add ons most people have a hard time just trying to get the food in their home. I basically put a limit on myself for what I buy now for myself no more crap add ons if I want motion control I'll go with the wii. The only thing being done with it right now is the boring " mini - games " that are way cheaper on the wii that are obliviously meant for kids. I've never seen any motion control for hardcore gamers that I would enjoy. In this sense nintendo really gave up on the hardcore crowd I'm glad it worked for them but it sets a bad precedent that only kids will pay for games making microsoft and sony to ignore their clientele of the hardcore gamer verity.

hi guys. love the show. i have been a gamer all my life but i really don't like this turn to 3d gaming that Sony and Nintendo have been doing. i am blind in 1 eye so i cant see 3d and when i see these games that are coming out in 3d i get disappointed. why should i be left out on having these experiences. games have helped me greatly with my hand eye coordination and i don't even feel that i am handicapped by it. with the 3ds coming out i feel that there is no reason for me to buy it and i would just like your thoughts on what gamers like me should do and if it is really fair that people that are handicapped like me should be left in the past.

The cast of feedback seems to be constantly changing. When can i expect a return of Patrick Klepek. i found his reaonsing and knowledge of video games very impressive and I think we should see a return of him to the show.

Hi guys. just a question. sorry if this has been brought up to death but i really have a pet peeve against various game websites and their prejudice towards the xbox. when is everyone gonna give microsoft what they deserve? How many xboxs were defective? why is online play 60 bux when u already pay for internet service? why is microsoft seemingly abandoning xbox players by trying to go after the casual market? there is nothing there for xbox's main group. I have a ps3 (obviously). and i can't even begin to understand y the xbox is still popular. everytime i hear news about xbox, it seems that they're just trying to get richer. and idiots follow them to the grave. not meaning to be a fanboy here but some of the stunts ms has pulled are plain ridiculous. if i had to buy a 2nd or 3rd ps3, i don't think i would go through with it. yet this happens with xbox and nobody cares. they charge for online and nobody cares. i even heard on a previous feedback episode how u guys have become accustomed to it and will pay it just because u have to. playstation plus may not be exciting to ppl with an xbox but they are giving free games away for signing up instead of holding certain features for ranson. i can't for the life of me imagine y more ppl aren't on ps+. i am not a slave to my console. which i like. there are various websites that claim that xbox is more advanced at multiplats because they were made on xbox first. they fail to mention the uncharteds, god of wars, heavy rains, mgs4 of this decade which have been home runs. my pet peeve is that most journalists ignore ps3 accomplishments and still declare xbox games superior(multiplats) when we all know that it depends on which system it was first brought out on. things would be so much rosier if all games were first developed on ps3 first. i guess just to sum it up. i am upset that (in my opinion) ms rapes there customers while ps cares for them and there is more of an anti ps3 sentiment going through this gen. thx for your time.

I'd like to see a new feedback segment entitled:

    "Adam's voice of the week"

Where people write in and request Adam to do one of his offputting impressions of basically anyone, his range is endless!

Would be a small time filler in one sense, but should be entertaining nonetheless.

I realize this comment is probably to late to consider, but
How do you guys feel about the EA Louse and Truth About Ice Frog posts. (http://ealouse.wordpress.com/ http://icefrogtruth.blogspot.c om/)
I realize both of these must be taken with a grain of salt because they appear to have been posted by disgruntled employees. Do you think these "whistle-blowers" are helping keep companies in line or just causing problems? Also do you think it help or hurts gamers getting this rare view of game development politics?

Do you think that games that feature both a single-player and a multi-player component cause the opposing modes to cannibalize each other? Or does it depend on the game? As general rule, I always play the single-player campaign first and then decide weather or not to dive into multi-player. Recently, I played though the Medal of Honor reboot and got such a positive vibe out of the campaign that I decided to dabble in the multi-player. However much I like the multi-player, it also reminded me of Bad Company 2 because the design is so similar. I had also played the Bad Company campaign first and was so dissapointed with it that I decided not to continue with the multi-player.

So, I just want to hear opinions... Does anyone feel the same way or visa-versa?

Here is something I'd really like to see discussed on FEEDBACK.

    What is with Matchmaking?

SOCOM for the PS2 is in my opinion the best CONSOLE shooter for community support. Take a look at Halo and Modern Warfare. You sign on, you pick a predetermined playlist of game modes you want to play and get thrown into the mix. There is zero clan support from what I can see (I haven't played Reach). These two games idea of a clan is tossing up a tag. What did SOCOM do differantly? First it had servers with lobbies where it seemed most people would make a home in a certain lobby (for me it was Canada West 3). There you would find the same clans always holding their tryout rooms which oh yes they got to decide which game modes, which maps, and which weapons!? How revolutionary. Maybe its just me but I feel that Matchmaking is a cheap way of getting out of doing all this work and honestly I feel I'm being cheated out of good money when I look back at the fun I had on SOCOM 2 with the clan support and community feel to the game. I think developers need to stop being lazy and start offering this again.

Love to hear your opinion on Matchmaking only games versus what SOCOM did with its community feel.

This will most likely be way to late for a consideration, never the less here's my question.

Adam has often shown distain for the numerical and letter grade reveiw system. Sighting it as being the cause of many a pointless dispute between peers, as well as it being impossible to maitain a level of consistancy in measuring the quality of games.

Why then do you guys still use the 5 star system. Wouldn't simply sighting the pro's and con's and the reviewer's review itself be enough?

dear feedback crew and weekly guest,

Why do you shoot? What is it that makes you rack up days rather than just hours on your favorite shooters. From modern warfare, BBC, Halo, KillZone, and one of my new favorites Uncharted what about these games makes you play. Side note, what new or upcoming shooters may take you away from your norm.

With new IP's like MOD Nation, Blur and Split/Second entering a field with existing franchises like GT, NFS, Mario Kart, and Forza, it seems to be getting a little cramp. I think racing games differ from most games in that they have little or no story for the most part (excpet for some gems like NFS: Most Wanted). Therefore the average gamer who doesnt love racing enough to buy the ferarri steering wheel wont buy more than 1 or 2 racing games a year. So my queston is, do you fine folk think that the racing genre is becoming to croweded or do you think that so of these games differ so much (GT and Mario Kart)that they merit seprate purchases?

    Hey Guys,

I went into a Gamestop a week or so ago and saw an interview on their about the new Goldeneye homage that is being released on XBL. I was disappointed to hear that they have changed not only the graphics but the gameplay, the story, and even Bond himself. At what point do you believe a homage or a remake stops being a homage or remake and becomes an appeal to branding? Furthermore, what do you reckon about the Goldeneye brand itself, with Rogue Agent and this new game all banking on the first great FPS?

Microsoft has announced that the Windows Phone 7 will launch with more games than than the Xbox 360 launch. Is Microsoft making a legitimate move into the handheld gaming market, or are they simply moving into the smartphone market? Do you think handheld consoles will trend towards all in one mobile devices, or will there always be a demand for a handheld system that is dedicated to gaming? It seems to me that we are reaching a point where there is no reason a phone cannot deliver every experience available on dedicated handheld gaming consoles as long as it gets the right support from game development studios.

I am a PC gamer. I got fifty bucks. What shooter do I buy? Medal of Honor, Black Ops, or Bad Company: Veitnam. I enjoyed Modern Warfare but if COD is doing what they did the the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer servers, Black-ops is out of the question.
