This year at Indiecade, Tim Schafer was honored with the new Trailblazer Award, which is given out to people who have paved the way for others with creativity and vision in the realm of independent game development. Schafer's work on titles like The Secret of Monkey Island, Full ThrottleGrim Fandango, and Psychonauts, among others, helped him net this award, and let's face it, who else would accept an award and use the phrase "tainted teat of the publisher?"

Indiecade: Tim Schafer Acceptance Speech »

There was no more fitting person to present this award than Ron Gilbert, who gave Tim his start at LucasArts nearly 20 years ago. Check out Tim's acceptance speech in the above video from Indiecade, and listen to what words of wisdom he has about independent game development. We love how it closes it out by encouraging everyone to buy Costume Quest. Congratulations, Tim. Seriously.

Check back on Tuesday when we'll have the more Indiecade Award Show coverage, where we'll have everything you'll want to see along with our own look at the Indiecade experience, right here on G4tv.com.

OMG, please don't make use PS3 owners look bad! Have a little class dude. Seriously! Anyways, what's wrong with Tim, He loves innovative games and gamers alike. You're not a true gamer if you don't like Tim or at least respect him. Get out of here ad don't come back until you're a true gamer.

The word teat always makes me laugh, I don't know why. I guess I'm immature.

Man, Tim Schafer really had a bad relationship with Activision, more specifically Bobby Kotick to make him say the "The Tainted Teat of the Publisher" comment. Not that Kotick doesn't deserve it.

I bet it would be a real coup in terms of goodwill from the community for EA to give Schafer another big budget. They're becoming the good guys now; kotick is the satan of the industry.

Seriously, Black Ops is the only exciting game coming out of acti at the moment and even that's nothing particularly special. Without CoD they'd be riding Blizzard's coattails

Now EA has some decent studios (Bioware) and the constant flow of sports game money I can see them getting ahead quite soon in terms of sales, especially if MoH does well.

PS. Blizzard seems like it's made of good guys, why are they even working with that Jackass?
