Bullying is something we've all had to deal with in one way or another. Most of us have memories of being picked on, stuffed in lockers, or beat up during our younger years. But sometimes things go too far, and the results can be catastrophic. There have been a lot of stories in the news recently about incidents at schools that have ended in violence and sometimes suicide, and that's what was on Adam's mind when he decided to shoot this week's Soapbox.
While we may feel like we're on the right side of this argument, there are some people out there that engage in similarly harassing behavior in online multiplayer games. As far as Adam is concerned, this is just as bad as bullying someone in person. Take a moment to hear what Sessler has to say on the subject, let us know how you feel, but please keep the discussion civil.

Nail on the head Adam. Some of the comments people say on Live or any other source where they are unknown is just down right insulting. Im tired of the Racial and/or homosexual things people say about me when they've never even heard my voice. There entire perception of me is just my Live name and they thinks its ok to say the nastiest things to me. But the worst part is that with this behavior, kids are starting to say things that my mom would wash my mouth out if I ever said. It just discourages me to even play any sort of multiplayer in games now.

Adam you show a good figure of some one who can relax in gaming while not relaxing common worldly sense.
All these people who get into habits of saying aimless hate filled things that they don't really understand the emotional impact of... are prob going to get them selves in trouble in the real world one day.. ignoring it and letting it slide is really bad for every one... so its important to call them out
Also like vampires are real.. so watch out

The real problem is that no one gets into trouble for online bullying. Sure there have been a few cases here and there but when I get online to play Halo or Modern Warfare there is always some kid cussing for no reason or some guy who just has the urge to yell constantly into the mic because he is having a bad game. I really wish there were stricter policies on foul language and misconduct in the online world. I love playing games online but I hate dealing with rude people.

Well put and I love the fact that you had a Prior shirt on.
On an unrelated note did anyone see that dude get teabagged on the Halo Reach screen.

Way to go Sessler, this is extremely important. And Robin, I'm not sure I agree. Some people, generally younger people, take the internet, very, very seriously, and will harm themselves over it. I mean we're not just talking about the few people that commit suicide, we're talking about developmentally stunting a large percent of population. I know I've got some bullying crap to get over and I'm an old head.

Internet bullying isn't nearly as bad as real life bullying, but it still sucks that no matter where you go, some douchebag is going to mess with you.
