Gears of War fans might not be able to pick up a copy of Epic Games’ recently delayed threequel Gears of War 3 as soon as they had hoped, however Epic has announced that players will still be able to get their hands on the game prior to the game’s launch next fall, compliments of a multiplayer beta.
Epic hasn’t shared any other details about the beta, other than it will be held sometime next year. Epic did, however, reveal that multiplayer in Gears 3 will use dedicated servers to “drive a balanced, optimized, and thrilling online experience for Gearheards everywhere,” the developer explained on its official site.
Now that Epic has bought itself some time with the delay, the developers will be able to take advantage of the feedback they receive from beta players, something they haven’t had time to do in the past. In other words, Gears 3 multiplayer should be far and away the best of the series. Guess we'll find out if that's the case in a couple months.

Good, a beta. An excellent opportunity to work out the bugs, lag problems, and exploits that have been the series' biggest multiplayer problem.
What I'd really like to know is how to get in on this beta. Don't developers usually announce a way to enter the beta when they announce the existence of the beta?

Probably a beta key packaged with BulletStorm?

I guess that figured that since now that they have another year they might as well test the multiplayer more deeply with a beta.

well....it's about freakin time, Epic. Back when we were saying this stuff years ago, now you're doing it. Well, kudos at least....better not be a pre-order bonus though

Yes.. this news alone pushes me over the line, Finally Epic does something right, I just can't wait to see what it looks like..
Gears 1 multiplayer was fast, and frantic
Gears 2 slowed it down and felt a little sluggish to me
i wonder how they will approach 3 from what i saw on the E3 Live co-op play i couldn't really tell, (in terms of character movement and etc)
but nevertheless, being able to try the game out, especially the multiplayer is a big thumbs up for me,
Multiplayer will be the defining choice on if i purchase the game or just rent it..
Do Work Epic
