Well the cat's out of the bag. We now know that the Nintendo 3DS will be out in March of 2011 and will most likely cost around 300 bucks. While there's no official announcement from Nintendo about the exact date or a solid price point, these things can be determined from the little information we have already. Is that an acceptable launch window/price? Will you be picking one up on day one? Or do you expect there to be a newer, better version of the 3DS every year, like the old DS? It's funny how (either way) the 3DS will be more expensive than the Wii despite it being a handheld compared to a console.. this makes me think that they ARE coming out with a new Wii despite it being an HD one or not.. what if they do an automatic 3D displaying Wii which relates to the 3DS? who knows.. All I know is they're going to have to come up with something more innovative now that everyone else is picking up the idea of motion controls (while already having HD graphics). Either way, i'd wait for a newer 3DS to come out.. knowing Nintendo they might end up making a 3DS XL before they make a 3DS Lite XL Slim Advance Color who-knows-what xD

There is no way I am paying 300 bucks for a handheld, when I can spend that same amount for either a PS3 or and Xbox360. All for what 3D?? Really?? I think I'll wait until next holiday season when they'll probably have some sort of bundle package and price drop. Besides I always like to wait until after E3 to see what new games developers are making for new hardware. SO 2011 might be an interesting year for 3ds, Kinect, and PS Move. But I'm still not dropping 300 bucks for a handheld!!

Although I'm excited by the portability, 3-D and wi-fi features, I'm really hoping the price will come down to under 249.00 (ballpark)...I won't be one of the 'first in line' unless the price is reasonable (especially in light of eventual 'evolutions' for the system, as Adam pointed out in his commentary).

I was planning to pick up the 3DS at launch ... If that 300-dollar price point holds in the States, I might have to hold back and wait for a deal to emerge first.
And yet, a new Kid Icarus game keeps calling to me, calling to me ... ;)

No.. i'm not paying that much for a game system, i could spend 300 right now on upgrading my computer to run better.
Their is no way i am spending that much on a handheld, give it time.. nintendo will find themselves going... "well, damn.. i guess we gotta drops the price".
I remember the PSP being like 250 and scoffing at it, a lot of people did, so i get the feeling the same thing will happen here, and nintendo will just have to drop the price, i'm not paying that much for a handheld, i don't care if it literally takes you into another world or will magically make me into superman, i am NOT paying 300 bucks for a handheld, hell thats more then my Wii was when i got it.

do you know how much the Wii used to cost ? because i live in israel and the Wii used to cost ALONE 2500 shaqels = almost 800 $$$ !!!!! and today it costs 1100 shaqels with two remotes+nunchucks,Wii resort,5-6 games and discounts for other Wii games!!! its like the store thought they could sell all the Wii's ut in the end thier stuck with a hole cargoe full of them...LoL nintendo is a great company ut they just cant compete with sony thats a fact!!!! they can try ut in the end sony sells one game compared to nintindo selling 10!!!

im gonna guess its gonna end up being $250 in the US, personally it seems a bite pricey but hey we have an advanced warning to save up for it if we want it. ive been itching to get another DS in the form of the Dsi or the XL but im just gonna wait on it til the 3DS comes out. And nintendo release the damned thing in black at launch no more fruity colors : /, oh wait i forgot your japanese

I highly doubt this is going to sell as well as it could with a $300 dollar price tag. At that price range I think most people are immediately comparing it with console prices. Even if that handheld does have 3D, a console is still going to give you more bang for your money. You've got superior gameplay and functionality (mostly in regards to online capability) with a console. Aside from that, a lot of people still see 3D gaming as a gimmick. A high price like that certainly isn't helping matters. Nintendo would be wise to tone down the price when they begin to sell it in North America.

Quite frankly, I could give a rat's ass about the price, while I would like it to be cheaper, which it probably will given the social differences and economic differences of Japan and America i.e. Japan's eco is doing better than ours, and idk if you know about that thing called microsoft, it didn't do so well in Japan, they don't like consol gaming as much as us, and they aren't really into fps's and stuff like that as much as a quick play as you go, playing on the subway, playing in their garden etc. to them the 3ds is a consol(which it is) on par with any of the current gen consols which must be hooked to a tv and can't go anywhere. About a few thousand miles away in America, we arent so hot for poratbles. Sure kids have them for pokemon or when you're camping or passing time between classes but overall we like to sit on our fat asses away from the sunlight and play CoD online for hours and hours while eating fatening potato chips and when we finally do go out, it's on a car where we can't play unlike public transportation which japan has a lot of. My point is that the price will go down but like i said, if it doesn't I could give a rat's ass

Everyone has to remember that the DSi's dollar value in japan was $50 more than the dollar value in north america at launch. The same goes for many past Ds iterations. I guarantee it won't be $300 USD when it launches in America. $249.99 will probably be the USD price at launch.
Depending on my savings and such, i may be able to pick it up at launch. We will see. I have no problem shelfing out $250 dollars if I have saved that much extra money. It's great technology, and great technology comes at a price (e.g. Blu ray).

Don't know if this has already been stated, but what about the legions of people who'd throw that much at Apple's handhelds, iphones, (or more importantly ipods) and whatnot. I'm pretty sure Nintendo looks at that, and thinks that with what they have on offer, it isn't really a hard sale, especially as word of mouth grows. I personally don't think it is too much, I'd like to pay less, but I wouldn't get all bent out of shape if that is what I end up paying.
