In an interview with ESPN, NBA Jam creative director Trey Smith revealed which stunt/celebrity characters you can unlock in the lighthearted basketball game. Here are just some of the famous ballers you'll be able to play:
- The Beastie Boys.
- President Obama, Joe Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Al Gore, all playing for an unlockable Democratic party team.
- George W. Bush, Sarah Palin, John McCain, and Dick Cheney playing for the Republicans.
"Dick Cheney has the Darth Vader snarl. Obama makes some great faces, and the politician dunk faces are some of the best dunk faces in the entire game," Smith said. "Sarah Palin is hilarious in the game. She has a beehive haircut and a helicopter dunk that is just awesome. She also makes some pretty funny faces in the photos."
That's cool and all, but ESPN asked which personages they couldn't get in the game, and the results are sad for old school ball fans: Charles Barkley, Shawn Kemp, Gary Payton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be absent from Jam. But hey, there are more than 40 other star ballers of the past included, like David Robinson, John Starks, Patrick Ewing, John Stockton, Karl Malone, and of course, Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, so you should be able to survive.
According to Smith, there is another musical celebrity he can't talk about in the game. Here's the description:
"I can say that we do have another musical act and we're super psyched to have him, but I can't reveal who he is just yet. He is one of our super, super secret characters, but he fits the style of game that we're making. He's a really cool guy and we hung out with him and played the game with him and he loves it."
NBA Jam is out today for the Wii, so it shouldn't be too long until someone unlocks this character as well as the rest of the hidden Jam gems. Let us know if you've unlocked anyone cool in our comment section!
