Gears of War 3 has been delayed until Fall 2011. Why beat around the bush? The news sucks, especially considering how good Gears 3 has been looking over our last few visits. What was once to be a roaring April has now gone out like a lamb; wasn't that supposed to happen to March?
According to an official statement released by a Microsoft spokesperson about the fate of Gears 3, it's merely a business decision:
“Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011. The teams at Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games have done great work thus far readying the title for release in the Spring of 2011. However, we’ve elected to move the launch of Gears of War 3 until Fall 2011 to make it the marquee title for the holiday season.”
So, what does this mean for next year? And what does Epic have to say about this?
Well, we heard from Rod Fergusson, Executive Producer on Gears of War 3, who helped put to rest any conspiracy theories:
"I know fans are going to be disappointed with the new release date, but rest assured that this is a business decision between partners, and not a quality issue. Gears 3 was on track to be the most polished Gears of War game ever when it released in April, and this additional time allows us to polish it that much more before it hits shelves next fall. Next week we have a major multiplayer press visit at Epic HQ, and I'm really looking forward to the fans getting to see and hear about Gears 3 Versus multiplayer for the first time. Lots more exciting news to come."
Bummer! We've barely started the 2010 holiday season, and already our eyes are on the end of 2011. If GOW3 is the marquee title for the holiday season, does that mean the yearly Halo ride seemingly comes to a close? What other Microsoft titles will they have to entice Xbox fans?
With big games like Rage and the next Call of Duty dated for the end of next year already, it's already looking pretty epic. Now, with the addition of Gears of War 3, it's just getting ugly! Even worse, we're a year away from finding out what happens to Carmine?! Oh the humanity!

this is crap my b day is april 5th i was gonna buy every extra for this game and now cann't wait for ghost recon f gay gow3 it could have been the best title now just pushed to the way side good job epic wait till bulletstorm get 4 blank shots out of 5

oh and another thing...because they're wanting a huge holiday season market...i'm guna go ahead and wait a couple more months after the release and the holiday season so i can buy it used, or maybe just rent it to play through the story.. yup..it'll be hilarious if customers fight Microsoft back by waiting until after the holidays to buy it.. No one should get it until 2012. Screw you microsoft for jerking customers around.

I gotta say i'm a little surpirsed that they decided not to just lie and declare the reason being quality related... at least that would have made them look better anyway (unless their lie was leaked lol) ....but to actually admit they just want to wait for the holiday season to make possibly more money, not right at all..good business decision i suppose..Here's another good business decision.. When you announce a release date, STICK TO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i bet the reason is because microsoft wants to add kinect features to it and make it that much "better" couldnt do it to reach because bungie isnt afraid of microsoft not that epic is but epic is still contracted by microsoft so they have to listen to the big cheese and in my opinion thats the reason that it got delayed so dont be surprised if the reboot some sort of kinect feature like a multiplayer mode that you get to be a locust or something as a consumer and owner of both gears kinda ticked off but hey how long did they push back splinter cell conviction and well theres a lot of games out now and coming soon so we dont have to worry so much lets try to get the seriously achievements till then.

Delay the game and it better be 100% glitch and lag free. But I'm gonna wait until January of '12 to buy it if the game is great. Maybe.

This is obviously in response to Halo Reach, Microsoft wants the advantage again, next fall with another huge release, I know a lot Gears fans don't see it but, this is a smart move from Microsoft, create a greater amount of demand for game that already has a amount of demand. I'm not a fan of this game series but I know it's very popular, so does Microsoft.They're trying to get a leg up on the competition early.

I mean sure LBP 2 was delayed but not for over 6 months, and not for pointless monetary gain,

that promise is definitely going to be broken. this game is gonna suck more than gears 2. gears might be good if cliff blezinsky was gone. you can tell the game sucks if it's taking this long for it to come out. it should have been coming out this fall since it's been 2 years since gears 2 came out. gears 3 will get worst game of the year next year without a doubt.

I think the thing i hate most about GoW is that Cliffy B wont admit he screwed up GoW2 hardcore, he doesnt realize that so many people hate the GoW series now because of GoW2. And if carmine even gets touched in a cinematic im smashing my game because of SAVE CARMINE! thank you.

Gears if you are pushing for a Christmas release to boost sales, I think you flubbed this one. I have money in the middle of the year, but at Christmas there are just too many demands on my currency to consider a video game at the top of the list. This looks like a 'used' buy now.
