It wasn't exactly a well-kept secret that Nintendo plans to release a Wii controller with built-in MotionPlus tech, but the other night in Japan, it became officially official. Nintendo's new magic wand will be called the Wii Remote Plus. It comes in a variety of colors for people who like that kind of thing, and it's coming out... sometime. Nintendo hasn't revealed the launch date for their new line of controllers.
Here's the official statement from Nintendo:
"For the convenience of the users, Nintendo is developing Wii Remote Plus, which integrates Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus. We will announce the details of this controller on our web sites and through other media at some later date."
It's interesting that Nintendo is refining its motion control technology for the second time, when its two competitors are just launching their first motion products. Anyone out there still playing with his/her Wii?

There are 3 types of gamers in my book, PlayStation Fanboys, Xbox Fanboys, Nintendo Fanboys. I for one am a PlayStation although I own a Wii, DSi, and a Gameboy. I also have a PSPgo. I for one, think that Move was a kinda bad idea and a spin off of the Wii Remote. I dont brag about it to my friends, but if they start badmouthing it, i just rattle off some of the games that it has.
Now, in relation to the Remote Plus, big whoop. Nintendos just closing the little crack between motion plus and the remote and putting a fifty dollar price tag on it.

I play with my Wii on almost a daily basis, I'm currently working on Super Paper Mario and Metroid Prime Trilogy.

This is awesome, and .... no i have not played my Wii in awhile.
I been playing on my computer, i went and got a new hard drive, got some old games of mine, reinstalled them and went to town! lol
Um.. well this is awesome, i have yet to get Wii plus.. so.. i can just skip getting a new controller cause i need one.. and skip the add on..and just get this.
I plan to play my Wii some more, when some other games i want come out for it, like the new Zelda.. or the new DKC, or.. um...Golden eye.... basically.. all the games announced at the last E3 lol.

Been a Nintendo fan since the Super Nintendo, but have come to admit that the Wii can't cut it. I'm honestly waiting for the Wii HD or something along the lines. Because after the "heavy-hitter" games come out (and I admit, the games presented at E3 were quite the eye-candy), then what's next? They're all set to release in a range of this fall to [about] Spring or so; so hopefully, the games have additional content to do (multi-player isn't always needed) that adds even longer life. And the 3DS should keep my attention FOREVER! lol
I'm hoping for sequels also. Smash Bros. Plus, anyone? :P Or at least, a remake that allows for DLC.

Well, i think its good, but it's not enough to go and make be buy another remote.

Yes, I play my Wii. I'm a nintendo fan and was among the first to get the Wii.
Now, the problem I have with this Wii Remote Plus announcement is the fact that I really don't want to buy it but instead I want my two wii remotes replaced by it. Nintendo should make up their mind by next year so people like me who didn't get the Motion plus yet would know whether or not they even need to. I'm really hoping i could trade in my Wii remotes for the Wii remote plus and just add like $10 or $20 for each new remote.
One thing that pisses me off is that there's like no info about it on the U.S. Nintendo website, but only on the Japanese website AND I DON'T READ JAPANESE!!!

I haven't played with my Wii in a while but that doesn't mean that I do not like it. However this is a good year for Nintendo. While this remote sounds good, I think Nintendo should have jump on this sooner and even announced it at E3. It seems like an after thought almost.

I have a Wii but I haven't played it since SSB Brawl. I'm a Zelda series fan so I bought the Wii for Twilight Princess and really had alot of fun with it. These days though I keep the Wii for my daughter. Let's face it the Wii has mostly cheap crappy games that are fun for 5 year olds and under which is perfect for my daughter. I'll get on and play with her and still find the motion controlls fun but I will never pay more for a controller that actually works when the original should have done the trick. They should give them away in thanks that anyone touches their system.

While I still enjoy the wii from time to time, I do wish the controller's shape was more curved and ergonomic like the move's. Other than that, I don't think I'll be getting the move for a long time.

i like the wiimotes with difrent colors that lights up

The most important thing to ask about this is: is it going to be the same size as a regular Wiimote? I really don't want my Zapper and dual Perfect Shots to end up being unusable if I decide to upgrade to this new version of the controller.
SymbioteSP3
i think this is a great idea. they should have done this in the first place, but i hope they sell them with the wii as well and not just the stand alone remotes

I still play Monster Hunter, and just picked up Mad World. Haven't found a use for the Wii Motion Plus yet. Zelda is the only reason I have seen to justify a purchase. I guess Wii Sports Resort as well. I'm not interested in golf, so Tiger Woods is out of the question.
Basically, I'm only going to buy it for Zelda

This new Wii remote is probably to contend with the Move, not so much the Kinect since the Kinect is different being an eye toy and all. I actually thought to myself, they should have had this in the first place. But in retrospect, it is possible that way back in 2006 the technology was not there to do 1:1 motion yet.
I'm actually glad they are doing this because I did not want to play the new Zelda game with the motion + attachment, it is instead embedded into the controller itself.

yea you're a clown staria haha, I think its funny how people hate on nintendo meanwhile all the other companies ever try to do is copy them...and always lose, whether its the E3 press conferences or the durability and longevity of the system (have had 4 red rings with my xbox, never had any problems on my wii)

Am I the only gamer here on earth, without my head in the clouds? I work for a certain popular game company and any gamer I talk to, ANY, who has a wii and an xbox or PS3 simply does not use the wii. Yes, Diehard nintendo fans do, but they miss out on so many amazing gzames that the wii simply cant handle. Yes, the wii is great for simple, shallow, fun party games, and there are even a small handful of games with depth, but 95% ow wii games are shovelware. So while you defend the wii and avoid other consoles, i'll be playing Mass effect, Heavy rain, Halo, Dragon Age, COD, Dead rising, GTA, Red dead redemption, assassins creed, the orange box, among countless others. Have fun with blind, rabid fanboyism, I'll have fun playing games on each system.
GatsuBlackSword
Selling my old Wiimotes and getting this new one.

I think it is funny how MS ans Sony laughed at Nintendo for having motion controls. Now a few years later MS and Sony came out with motion controls. Funny how they now feel that after Nintendo made millions with motion controls they finally want some, the Wii may not be a Super Uber graphics HD machine, what it does it does well, it is FUN. Companies need to remember that people play games for FUN.
