Naughty Dog’s masterpiece Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is nearing its one-year anniversary, and in honor of the occasion, the developer has announced that on October 12, it will release the definitive Game of the Year edition of Nathan Drake’s latest adventure.
Honestly, Naughty Dog could have packaged Uncharted 2 in a wet envelope with Game of the Year Edition scrawled on it in crayon, and it would still be worth the full retail price, because the game is just that good. But instead, the publisher has gone ahead and included over $35 worth of bonuses to make this version an absolute must-buy for any PlayStation 3 owner who for some reason hasn’t gotten around to playing the best PS3 title to date.
The $49.99 Game of the Year edition includes:
- PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack
- Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Multiplayer Pack
- Uncharted 2 Siege Expansion Pack
- Currency Multiplier which grants Double XP up to level 10 in Multiplayer
- Golden Guns option for the AK-47 and the 92FS 9mm pistol for use in Multiplayer
- Early access to “Revenge” Booster – you still have to purchase it with in-game cash!
- Uncharted: Eye of Indra – Motion Comic Bundle (which includes Episodes 1-4)
- Uncharted: Eye of Indra – Rika Raja and Daniel Pinkerton Character Skins
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Avatar Pack 1
- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Avatar Pack 2
- Uncharted Avatar Pack 3
- Uncharted Avatar Pack 4
- Pinball Heroes – Uncharted for the PSP
Never ones to be satisfied, Naughty Dog will also be hosting a special one-day multiplayer event comprised of a selection of “Best of” gametypes. Naughty Dog developers will also be online throughout the day to take on fans at their own game. The publisher also plans to make some more big announcements in the coming weeks (first details on Uncharted 3 please!).

I don't wanna sound like a 360 fanboy, I'd love to have a PS3, but it does have a few things against it. First of all, the newest models don't have full backwards compatibility. That to me is a huge drawback because I have tons of PS2 and PS1 games, some that I haven't even finished, and I don't wanna clutter up my apartment with another console. Plus, the early PS3 launch titles were utter crap, which caused very poor initial sales, and also makes me wary of buying it.
Also, who says 360 can't handle Uncharted 2? There is a little game called RAGE in development, and the 360 seems to have no trouble handling that one. Again, not trying to sound like a fanboy, just an observation, and I'd love to hear some civil feedback on this.

I wish there were more good games like this out for the PS3...I waited to get my PS3 after this, god of war 3, and metal gear, were available...but everything else worth buying is multi-platform...shoot, I don't even use the blu-ray now that I can just stream off of cable or the Internet...can't wait for Resistance 3 and Killzone 3...

MGS ok. R2 is just another childrens shooter (autoaim and analogs suck) COD is a joke, crappy game from a crappy company, rehashed too many times in a flooded genre. At least Uncharted gives us something a little different.

Nice i still have to finish the first and the only reason i never bought this one is because of that and the $60 price tag(then u need expansions,etc)everyone kept talking about the multiplayer and much better story so an all-in-one pack for $10 off is alright...but $40 and im there day one

Darn. Normally I scrooge it up and end up on the right side of the GOTY treatment, but I couldn't hold myself back from UC2. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

I really hate goty editions mainly because they have the dlc on the disk a that I have digitally downloaded. I am always in favor of having a hard copy of a game rather than dlc.

Console exclusives are GTFO. Most consumers can't buy multiple platforms, and the developers are shooting themselves in the wallet with exclusives. I really wanna play this game, but I'm not buying another console. Yet.
