Just this morning, TheFeed was sitting around at our morning meeting discussing comedy in video games, and wondering why, if comedy is such an important and well represented genre in film, there is no similar funny game market. In trying to come up with the funniest games ever made, a couple names kept coming up: Tim Psychonauts Schafer and Ron Maniac Mansion/Deathspank Gilbert. Today, we learned that Schafer has hired Gilbert to work at his company... so we're expecting the funniest game of all time shortly.
The last time the pair worked together, it was at LucasArts, where each lent his talent to The Secret of Monkey Island, a classic game that you should really play if you haven't already.
While the pair wouldn't get super-specific, we know it's a smaller game created by Ron Gilbert. The company plans to focus on a variety of projects at once, as opposed to one huge game at a time... smaller chunks are just the thing for comedy, wouldn't you say?
"It's an idea that I've been batting around for many, many years," Gilbert told Kotaku. "I've been talking to Tim over the last couple of months about it and it sort of percolated back up. It's very different than DeathSpank, it's a bit of a departure from that. It's going in a very interesting direction... Fans of those old adventure games will like it."
