Last Call For APB Beta Testers

If you purchased APB: All Points Bulletin with the hopes of living your virtual life in the crime-based MMO's gritty world, you're no doubt angry and sad over the death of the game. But buck up, camper -- According to website Savvy Gamer, EA feels your pain and will soothe it with a free download of your choice. This applies only to people who downloaded the game through Steam. I'm not sure if there's any reimbursement for people who picked up the retail version of the game.

Apparently, if you contact EA through this site, and tell them you’d like another game to replace APB, they will give you any game currently available on the EA Store. I'll bet you can find something much better than APB. I recommend Dragon Age: Origins. It's not as "street" as APB, but it's a great game.

As soon as I said I purchased it from Steam, they said No.

Steam Purchases Seem to be a no go.

Wow this company just makes me sad. I try the day i see this, and the person would not give me any kind of refund, so I decide to try it a few days later with a different person. It seems that they have closed this offer and they are not offering anything anymore.

How interesting that I was just in Walmart last night and saw APB still on the shelf... Must have missed the memo??

Fear2288 - I think that's a bit harsh, EA is not obligated to offer a refund. They will be offering to people who haven't played as long (i.e. me) because we didn't get value for money but people who played for longer (i.e. my husband) have had their money's worth by now potentially - we he did, depends how much you played I guess.

nhhs18 - I thought it was made in Scotland!

This is BS....I bought the game on July 4th and I'm not entitled to this refund. I dropped $50 on this crap game and they won't refund me but will gladly refund the people who could've bought the game at a lower price (I believe it did drop down in price on Steam in August and early September).

EA - shame on you for this. You're act of kindness is two faced as always and is leaving a good number of people out to dry.

Stephen Johnson just become more awesome for recommending Dragon Age. Looks like instead of just one or two people who likes DAO at G4, it's more like a handful.

This is only available to users who have bought this game AFTER JULY 17th. The only thing that people get before July 17th is a 20% to 25% coupon, depending on the Agent. It's a shame that the people that preordered the game, including myself, only get a lousy 25% coupon, instead of the free game that I was hoping for.

You'll probably be put in a queue, but it shouldn't be long. It took 10 minutes for me.

G4 should update this with the new info I have:

Create an account if you don't have one yet and go to support.ea.com. From there hit Email Us and select the appropriate choices from the drop boxes.

Everyone who bought APB can be reimbursed with proof of purchase. If you got a boxed copy, you need to scan the receipt from the store and provide that to them, along with the name of the game you wish to download. For those who bought a downloadable copy, you need the receipt sent to your email by the distributor, or the order number if you purchased from the EA Store.

The only games available for selection are those in the Digital Download category. Yet to be released titles are not options.

This sucks that APB ended up getting canceled, I was a little interested in it if it came out on either PS3 or 360, can't remember if there was plans to bring it to consoles or not. I don't play PC games anymore since I'd rather sit comfortable in my living room on a big TV as opposed to sitting here on my 19 WS monitor, although I will admit having a KB & mouse does help more than a controller sometimes. But anyways, I would watch people play on justin.tv and it looked interesting. Also I'm not into RPG's or MMO's at all, well the fantasy ones, but this one looked like it could have made me start getting into them or at least try em out if I was able to get this and ended up liking it (although not sure if I would have wanted to because all the time you sometimes have to put into these kind of games just to level up so your not being killed every other sec by everyone lol).

There have been numerous things or just "bad decisions" or what not by EA that has gotten me to the point of not ever wanting to get any of their games again (which of course didn't last all that long) but at least they are trying to give back somewhat to their customers that purchased this and can no longer play it anymore. To bad they didn't try selling it to another company or something to see if they could have possibly supported it or at least kept the servers up till people stopped playing or something like that? Although they should give ALL people who purchased this game either online through steam or like Amazon all the way to people getting it at a retail store either a full refund or a free game of equal value (or less if that's the one they choose) just as long as there is a way they prove they have the game.

For Steam or from their site they're probably able to prove/trace that you purchased the game, for retail they should send something to stores that tell them that they can either give the customers a full refund (which of course EA would have to back up and pay the store back for those refunds) or a free EA game of the customers choosing (again something of equal value at the very least, and ANY EA game, not just a select few because that person may already have them or don't like them), but ONLY if those customers return the game to the store with the box, case, book, or whatever it included. At the very least the case that holds the game which should also have the artwork in/on it, along with the game of course and booklet, which also should be in the game. The box could be so-so, I know some don't save their PC game boxes and will only keep the actual game case unless the box was the case and all like how PS3/360 games are. I think that would be enough proof that the customer purchased or received the game as a gift or whatever legally and wasn't pirated or whatever if they can't find, show the receipt anymore or just don't have it anymore.

I'm sure there's something that disables the game or they remove it from people's collection on Steam or whatever, so people having to return the game and everything would be no different at a store. Plus if it's not playable anymore or after a certain date than there's no reason to keep it except for "memories" or unless it became a collectors item which I doubt. Also I don't think there's any single player at all so just another point for why there would be no reason to hang on to it.

But EA would have to send something to stores like a "recall" because you know how stores are once you open up any type of media/entertainment software. They'll just replace it with the same thing and doesn't give refunds or exchanges since they think you might have copied it, already beat it, or what not. Most people are retail stores probably don't even know that EA canceled this game I bet. So EA would have to send some notice to them and not just hope the stores offer or give some kind of refund to customers. If they don't I'm sure if people keep contacting EA and complain POLITELY then hopefully they'll do something like I mentioned above for people that got the game at a store or other means than directly from EA or Steam. The key thing though is to show frustration but being POLITE at the same time. Being rude and demanding whether it's over the phone, email, or face to face will never help you or your cause. I used to work and still will once I get another job in customer service and once people yell, demand, and stuff directly at me I (and everyone that works there) will end up finding a reason or policy that doesn't entitle that person a credit or whatever they wanted. If they're polite about it or whatever then we always end up going above and beyond even if you didn't ask for a credit or whatever. Everyone understands frustration and everyone has been there. It's how you relay it is what matters.

    Good luck people...

Does anybody have any steps to get through the process? It would be very helpful. Also, the link posted is to the UK site, support.ea.com is the US support site.

What irritates me the most about this is that EA claims it will help you. But to even TRY to get to a support page or to e-mail EA about it, it is like a blockade.

I can't even find a single hint of that site showing APB anywhere on it. It's like EA and everyone erased the game from its entirety on their site.

If anyone else bought it from retail and got through to getting a new game from them, please private message me how you did it.

I live in Boulder,CO and APB was apparently a locally made game. Sad to see it was canceled. I was hoping to get into the gaming business out here and not have to move

That's fantastic. I didn't buy the game, but i'm sure those who did were fairly pissed off when the servers shut down. It is nice to see a company like EA doing the right thing like this for once.
