According to statistics released yesterday by Microsoft's Major Nelson, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is still the most-played online game on Xbox Live, beating Halo: Reach, but the statistics only cover the dates between September 13 and 19. Reach came out on September 14, so next week will be the true test of whether MW2 will be toppled from its spot on the top of the "charts" it's held for nearly a year.
Interestingly, online platform Raptr has released its own statistics that show that Halo: Reach has beaten MW 2, and that Modern Warfare 2's playtime has dropped by 50 percent since Reach was released. Raptr's numbers reflect Raptr users as opposed to the general population of Live users, though.

deffinetely i prefer MW2 Than Halo reach, ive buyed both games, and i loved both games but MW2 has a realistic touch that makes it unique, also gots better effects and drama, weapons are balanced and its very good game i know that u will say this guy is crazy but i check completly games to define if i like it or no,

Mw2 is no longer the most played game on Xbox live. It has been confirmed by Microsoft, and Bungie that since its launch Halo Reach is the most played game on Xbox live.

i used to play mw2 everytime i got online. used to be the only game i played pretty much with the occasional madden. Now after i got reach i havent touched madden or mw2 but for some reason find myself playin gta 4, and left 4 dead 2 along with reach haha

I wouldnt be surprised if MW2 is lower. Especially since most of the MW2 players came to reach. You can usually tell by the people who run for the shotgun and camp a corner with the rest of there team :/

I've been playing Gears of War 2 online since it came out, through the releases of Modern Warfare 2 and Reach. That's not likely to change until Gears of War 3 comes out.

mw2 was then, blackops will be the "now" top game mw2 is getting messed up lately I've been going online and people are telling me to leave, I'm like wtf?! why?! This is a private lobby for boosting ok I get out, I join another game I see a bunch of numbers on the GUI its like ppl are multiplying there points its just crazy!! I'm happy mw2 has reach this stage why can't ppl just play the bloody game for fun why ruin it, Treyarch <- however u spell im looking forward to blackops they now know what they need to work on and improve on.
From all of what I've seen Blackops is going to made of WIN! To me its like CCS on steroids right there. Who cares who makes the next COD as long as the game is good. I don't know why ppl get so carried away bc a different company or w/e made the game, its not about them! Its about the game, at least to me it is.
Who wants my copy of mw2? I'm definitely gonna sell mw2, types "glyde.com" in address bar. I can put that money to the rest of my BlacOps pre-order.

Maybe it's just because I'm on PS3, but non of my friends play GTA online anymore. I still play it a little here and there, but that's just when I have a friend over or something and we decide to go hit people with baseball bats then run away.

too much attention is put on numbers. Zynga has 215 million monthly users; if numbers mattered, Zynga would be top dog. Numbers don't make games good.

I think Reach will be #1 next week if it isn't already. Its all around a awsome game. With firefight, mp, and online co op I have no doubt it will be there soon.

Wow, you fail G4! Check your facts! It was an internal MS error, Reach was actually on top! Yeah, might want to check with the company you are going to do a story on first so they can tell you how MS failed!

I think Reach is easily going to surpass halo alot of people are looking for something new to play besides mw2. When black ops comes out that will be a real competition in my opinion.

I'm playing reach almost exclusively. I like that there are several different game modes (that are interesting unlike MW2) to break up the monotany and the fact that you can customize your armor is a big plus. Strangely I find there are also less douche bags/cry babies on the Reach servers. Oh, and the ability to kick team killers like the scurvy sluts they are doesn't hurt either.

both are great games and i enjoy both, but there is something about the simple red vs blue idea that i like from Halo that kinda makes it easier for me to kill the right person. While on MW2, sometimes everyone looks the same, i get all confused and heck.

I really do think that with MW2 and Halo it's a matter of what you like. I was never a Call of Duty fan, although I did buy MW1 and MW2 just to see if I can find something about the game I can really enjoy. I couldn't. To be honest, I was never all that big of a Halo fan either. I owned 3 due to all the hype surrounding the game, I thought ODST sucked, and just last year I went back and bought the 1st and second Halo for the original Xbox. Halo Reach however, was just a full and complete fun gaming experience. The story is deep, characters are ones you want to know about, and the multiplayer options is massive. I'm not taking anything away from MW2 obviously it's a great game to so many people. But to have a game that came out last week to be only second to a game that's had the top spot for over a year, fan or not, you can't deny the influence and popularity of a console exclusive game like Halo. In a week it will be number one most played online game, the more and more sales it generate.
