Welcome, one and all to another glorious edition of your favorite weekly video game web show Feedback. Tokyo Game Show 2010 is now officially behind us, and, most importantly, everyone made the flight home (except of course for Randy, the intern I just made up. Poor guy.) Anywho, on this week’s show, Kevin "Back from the Land of the Rising Sun" Kelly, sun stabber Abbie Heppe, the always sunny Nikole Zivalich,  and son of a sabertoothed rock demon and fiery orc maiden J.P. Shub to discuss the week’s biggest news, TGS, and, officially, Halo: Reach.

Great show everyone, i just have one question if anyone could chime in.

Everyone talked about playing Dead Space 2 with the Move/Kinect, did you guys mean the Dead Space Extraction, or did you mean Dead Space 2? I ask because i cannot find information on Move being enabled with Dead Space 2, only for its use with Extraction.

    Thanks

I have a genuine love for Feedback, The Sess-man is AWESOME! ( I think Kevin did an admirable job filling in for him this week) And I will continue to stop by and check it out every Wensday afternoon. However... The show is DEFFINITLY missing something since Klepek left, And reading over the comments, A majority of the fanbase seems to agree.

Yeah, im gonna have to agree with some of the other posts. Nicole has a pretty face, but it really seems that she knows jack about games. It seems to me that she has only played games since she started working for G4. She is so trite. She doesn't want to offend anyone and so she is agreeing with everything. And she seems to just assume, that people who play games can just buy everything. BULL. Drop her like a bad habit from this show. I'm all for girl gamers, but they should know something about what they are being required to talk about, beyond what the corporate powerpoint she has read. Sorry, Nicole you gotta go.

gekco90: thanks for the update on HALO REACH. I hate games that are short. I'd like to see some remakes from even the SEGA Saturn such as Shining Force 3 and any RPG that has been lost into the archives. Archive releases would be great.

Actually, I find it Not At All surprising that a shooter game like 'Modern Warfare' is completely skipped over at the Tokyo Game Show. Japan has a very different relationship to firearms than that of America. In American pop-culture, guns are EVERYWHERE.

Case in point, the line from the movie 'Lord of War': "Can you bring me the gun of Rambo?" We have a movie about arms-dealing referencing another movie that set the stage for the bullet-spraying action hero. In Japan, aside from police "No-one shall possess a fire-arm or fire-arms or a sword or swords" [Law No 6, Art 3, EHS Law Bulletin Series, No 3920]. Obsessive fans of firearms, Gun-Otaku, are viewed with incredible disdain by their "more normal" peers.

I can't actually name a Japanese developed game that treats gun-combat without a level or two of abstraction. In 'Vanquish,' you fight giant robots with techno-super powers. In 'Devil May Cry,' you fight hordes of demons with magical-super powers.

Even the Metal Gear Solid series, which takes a fairly unflinching look at the possible future of warfare, has you fighting guys with psychic powers and singing robots. Counterpoint: Takao Saito's 'Golgo 13.' The protagonist is a hitman whose relationship to his custom M16 spider rifle is a deliberate mirroring of a traditional samurai's almost mystical relationship to his katana.

It is incorrect to say that Japan is gun-phobic. Rather that the Japanese cultural view of guns and their place in society is noticeably different from that of the United States. There's nothing wrong with 'Modern Warfare' as a game. In fact, if some of those people at TGS had tried it, they probably would have enjoyed it.

The most significant reason that I can identify as to why 'Modern Warfare' was spurned, is that the Japanese attendees were coming with the intent to play very different types of games than MW ('Kirby's Epic Yarn,' 'Monster Hunter Portable 3rd,' etc.). If Infinity Ward & Activision want Japan to get excited about this game, they are going to have to figure out how to cross this significant cultural gap.

Don't watch a discussion about a game if you don't want anything spoiled. I think there could have been more discussion on the story, spoilers included. Reactions are always interesting.

I agree with Bogues and Taylor. I've been watching this show since October '09 (as far as I can remember), and it has been doing a pretty good job 'til now. After Klepek left (ironically I wasn't a big fan of his, but he still had personality), the show has been plagued with constant lateness during a summer where nothing much was happening, and now the cast keeps changing to people that don't seem to have the same enthusiasm for the show.

The show wasn't perfect when Klepek was around, but at least the show had consistency and value, 3 regulars with different personalities and a third guest that kept things interesting.

I could understand maybe if the regular cast of characters are busy or just not at G4, but how did they manage for an entire year?

Gotta say Nikole and J.B were great additions to feedback this week, hope you guys bring them back often!! And once J.B referenced kingdom hearts near the end there it got me thinking a Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 HD remake would be perfect, plus it'll give Adam something to distract all those people hounding him for kingdom hearts 3 news with.
