Putting recent rumors to rest, Capcom head Keiji Inafune has confirmed that the Street Fighter publisher has teamed up with Professor Layton developer Level-5 for an original project.
Little is known about the game at this point, since it is still in the early stages of development. However, as Develop reports, the collaboration is progressing nicely, thanks in large part to the mutual respect felt between Inafune and Level-5’s Akihiro Hino.
“Right now, the two of us, with our staff, are working together on some truly interesting things. Even though Mr. Hino is younger, he's someone I respect...I wanted to try working with him, so I contacted him. The thing I most respect about Hino is his work ethic. Before I met Hino, I had confidence in the amount of work I was doing, and even thought that maybe I was the hardest working person in the game industry. But after meeting him, I thought I’m probably not number one.”
Level-5 continues to keep its eyes on the expansion horizon. Back in June, the developer announced it was opening a new office in California and had plans to open another one in Europe sometime next year. Whether these new studios will be involved in the new Capcom project isn’t clear just yet.
