Fans of long running British sci-fi series Doctor Who are a peculiar and loyal bunch, and there are enough of them out there to cement a second season of downloadable PC game Doctor Who: The Adventure Games.
"Given the success of the first series, we'd be daft not to recomission," BBC head of multiplatform in vision Simon Nelson said in a statement. "But it's not just about the numbers; the feedback we've had has been overwhelmingly positive. Our audience has been introduced to a new form of drama — and, for many, these have been the first computer games they have downloaded. We've set new standards in audience participation — and we think we've really helped push the concept of families actively playing together. I can't wait to see what the team does next."
The games are free to play in the U.K., but pay-to-play in The States.
If you are not a PC gamer but you love the time traveling doctor, do not fret. DS and Wii versions of the The Adventure Games are scheduled for release in the coming months... at least in Europe and Australia. Right now, there isn't any word on U.S. releases for the Nintendo version of Doctor Who's adventures.
Have you played the Doctor Who games? I haven't had the pleasure, but as a fan of the old school doctors -- love the dude in the question mark suit, and classic Doctor Who in the long tie and trench coat -- I'm definitely interested in checking it out. You can check it out too, right here.
