Mafia II Joe's Adventures DLC

Mafia II, 2K’s well-dressed and foul-mouthed sequel, is set to receive yet another batch of downloadable content, the third piece of DLC to be released for the game since its launch last month, in the form of the newly announced Joe’s Adventures add-on.

In the new downloadable chapter, players assume the role of Joe Barbaro, and are tasked with uncovering the truth behind Vito’s imprisonment. There will be new locations around Empire Bay to explore (train station, the cathouse, a boat yard, a lakefront, and new buildings), new clothing and collectibles to unlock, new music tracks, and new “optional city-based quests.” These side quests will be arcade focused, complete with combo and multiplier bonuses, and feed into the game’s online leaderboards.

Joe’s Adventures will be released on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC later this year. No price has been set, but the previous DLC, Jimmy’s Vendetta, cost $10/800 Microsoft Points, so I’d expect the same for the next pack.

Aside from people thinking the current DLC should have been included with the game, how have you been finding them? Worth the extra green?

Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.

I hope this is free...or at least 400 MSP it should have been in the game in the first place...

This game deserves better DLC than "The Betrayal of Jimmy." I really really want to buy this DLC, but if it fails to deliver again, well..you know the rest.

Hey 2k made a good attempt, they should just stick to sports though. Take Two Interactive already has there golden child in Rockstar.

@ Hud Salad (love the name BTW)

Yes we can blame the game maker for this! Here's how you fight Gamestop.

First release the initial game for $20. LATER you charge $10 for 3-4 hour quality DLC segments. This guarantees they get money from renters and used game buyers who want to go further.

You never, ever screw the original investor by charging them $60 for 1/3 of a game and then charge $10 each for DLC.

    Seriously 2k!

    That is just wrong!

    Good game, bad customer treatment!

Great. More missions in the game means more freezing issues. I knew I should have bought the new Madden.

3 batches of DLC in a month? Sounds like they had a bunch of stuff done for the release of the game, but decided to hold it back, charge full price for minimal content, and then charge for what should have been part of the game. You can't really blame the game maker for this. They're just trying to make back the money they are losing to companies like gamestop that make tons of money off games they didn't make. It's unfortunate that the customer pays the price for the fight between the companies that make the product and the companies that sell it.

All of the DLC should have been in the original release! The game might then have been worth playing. As it sits without downloaded content; it's just a predictable, Max Payne-esque, Driving Mr. Mafia story. 2kCzech has lost a Lot of respect with me on this greed driven business model.

Shame on those who bought the downloadable content! You are only encouraging this drug-pusher approach to game launching.

Not cool 2k. Not cool at all.

I, like most, loved Mafia. And 2kCzech is a quality developer.

Mafia 2 just didn't have the right execution.

Parts of the game were very cool (delivering the message to an old friend! Which i had an idea about but I didn't think it would happen, gun play, destructible environments.

Then it had not so cool happenings, such as (and these are my opinion, not fact):

*The middle of the game feels like it should be called, 'Fight Night' Boxing/Fighting gets repetitive and annoying.
*Driving gets annoying and repetitive. My index finger was killing me because of all the trigger pulling that came with driving around half the game. I mean, in one mission I actually get picked up and driven FURTHER away from my objective JUST so I can drive back to it. (I've played 10.5 Hours of Mafia 2, I promise 3 hours are driving time. Does it say in the stats? I'll have to check)
*Driving up the winding road up the hill got annoying. It reminded me everytime I was driving up it exactly how many drastically different missions took place all within that 1 Mile Radius on top of the hill. (Mafia Leader Mansions, Doctors, Observatories)
*Predictable storyline (not too many REAL shockers in the game)
*How many times do I have to put my clothing on? Not to mention it doesn't matter because you apparently NEVER get to keep your cars/clothing/money/guns. It really makes you say, 'What's the Point?'
*Police are EVERYWHERE and the bribing system is more of an annoyance, and every time I crash near a cop I hear, 'In pursuit of a hit and run driver!' even though I haven't left the 'hit'. Cops respond way too quick to every robbery/shooting in a store.
*Sometimes it feels like I'm getting shot with magic bullets, or I get headshotted which, in a game, sucks.

But my one big problem with Mafia 2 is that it doesn't in any way feel like Mafia. To me Mafia was this open world game that had these cool missions and characters you cared about (Angelo and Sarah and the KID! C'mon! Who does Vito have? No one, he doesn't even talk to his sister in almost ever) To me Mafia 2 just doesn't have Characters I care about (now I'm drawing a blank on who your childhood friend is in the game) or Henry or Vito or anyone else. Mafia 2 also lacks the 'open world' feel. Unless I'm missing a menu option, the only time you can 'freeroam' is between missions, oh wait I mean DURING Missions. you know after you wake up, answe the phone, and put clothes on... Then you drive around a little bit... But you always FEEL this driving force to go and play the mission. Especially with the Red GPS line up your butt.

Mafia 2 was a decent game... not worth a buy... Worth either a Gamefly or MAYBE a blockbuster rental (if you like giving money to horrible corporations)

if this dlc actually has a storyline and some epic cutscenes much unlike jimmys vendetta which was absolute highway robbery. there was nothing to it, u just drove around and did stuff with no storyline to keep you interested. i am not getting this dlc the first day until i hear more about it cuz although i loved the main story, the first dlc was terrible.

2k really screwed us with all this DLC that should have been part of a VERY SHORT game.

The game was great, but not worth $60. This should have been included in the original game.

I have been ripped off and will not purchase this or any other DLC or any other new games from 2k or their partners. I may buy used where they do not get a profit from my money.

    Shame on 2k!

    Shame!

DLC for this game that I actually wanna get. Played a little bit of the 1st one (Betrayal of Jimmy), thought it was all right, but nothing really that'll keep you going back to Mafia II. Can't wait, now we get to see what Joe was up to while we were all playing as Vito.

From what I've heard, this DLC sounds like exactly what the game should have been... story driven with arcade-like side missions. Hopefully it delivers.
