Suda51 can finally stop dodging questions about his next game and talk about it openly. At EA's press event during the Tokyo Game Show, Suda51 unveiled his company Grasshopper Manufacture's Shadows of the Damned, a psychological action thriller where you play as Garcia, a man hell-bent (literally) on traveling to Hell to rescue his true love Paula. Of course, as happens with most sojourns into hell, he's challenged by a number of grotesque demons. Thankfully, Garcia also happens to be a "hard-as-nails, leather-clad, motorcycle-riding professional demon hunter." Whew. That's a mouthful.
As you journey through Satan's realm in search of Paula, you'll be doing battle with demons via a variety of weapons, and there are puzzle solving elements as well.
Suda51 brought Resident Evil's Shinji Mikami along for this horrific motorcycle ride into hell, which should satisfy horror game junkies, and the game will have music from Silent Hill whiz Akira Yamaoka. According to Suda, he chose EA because they were capable of bringing this game to a global audience. According to Mikami, the game has a punk rock edge to it, and Suda's particular style is all over it. But while the game may be steeped in horror, they assured us more than once that there would be lighter moments throughout.
Shadows of the Damned will be out 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Watch the trailer above and let us know what you think.

Looks like Suda and Mikami had a baby. Suda's extensive use of hallways, stylish melee attacks, and general weirdness (whats up with the bottle dispensing tombstone machine? The main characters name is very Suda as well). The DMC and Resident Evil influences are kinda obvious.
Can't wait. Last time these two got together, we got Killer7 :D Akira is just another bonus.

God of War's badass mood/character, meets a bit of Dante's Inferno...'s hell.
And it looks pretty neat. Don't wanna say "epic" just yet, but it looks like a lot of fun.

It looks like Resident evil 4 (updated) and suda 51 style. I really hope I am correct on this one because it would be such a welcome change to the idea of lets copy all America's idea's for games and not give our own strengths their fair shake.
