Rockstar Games have released some new screenshots and details for Stronghold, the new competitive multiplayer mode being introduced to Red Dead Redemption next week via the Liars and Cheats downloadable content pack.
Stronghold plays out in typical attack-and-defend fashion with one team charged with protecting a series of control points while the other team tries to wrestle control away from the other side. Each team has a set number of lives and a time limit to do their deeds, and once those limits run out, the teams switch sides. The team that secures the most control points the fastest wins.
Adding to the chaos are strategically placed safes that players can crack to receive the new Explosive Rifle, which, from the sound of it, sounds like something you don’t want pointed anywhere in your general direction. The mode supports up to 16 players and plays out across four maps—Blackwater, Escalera, Fort Mercer, and Thieves Landing.
