Ace Books has announced plans to publish Fable: The Balverine Order, the first tie-in book for Lionhead Studios’ acclaimed action-adventure franchise Fable, this October, just ahead of the release of Fable III. As a bonus for fans, the novel will include a code to redeem an exclusive weapon players will then be able to use in the upcoming threequel.
“Having a novel based on one of our games is a real first for Lionhead Studios,” said Lionhead Studios head lion Peter Molyneux in a statement. “We are all very proud and pleased with the way the Fable story has evolved to become more powerful with every iteration. Fable: The Balverine Order is a great read in its own right and complements the skill and imagination our in house writing team has shown in creating the world of Albion and making the Fable story so compelling.”
The Balverine Order, penned by New York Times bestselling author Peter David, is set between the events of Fable II and Fable III, and tells the following story:
“The days of magic and adventure are fading away, giving way to the age of industry and science. As the aged last Hero sits upon the throne of Albion, two friends—the privileged Thomas and his loyal servant, John—set out for the East in search of a legendary beast: the vicious, rarely-seen balverine. But their desire for adventure may be their ultimate undoing—because their quarry has just found them.”
Fable: The Balverine Order will be released on October 5 for $9.99. If you can't wait that long, you can read an exerpt from the novel over at Penquin Books' site.

I just bought the book a few days ago, still reading it and can't put it down. Great tale to thirst my craving till two weeks and very well written with the good action and humor that is true to the Fable series.
On a side note the code is in the middle of the book and you need to scratch it first like a scratch ticket to receive the code. If your going to buy it at a store just make sure the middle of the book has the thick page with the scratch area intact and your golden!
For those thieves out there that like to just steal the codes always remember karma has a way of coming back ten fold!
Long live Lionhead and Fable!

Well that's kind of odd. Got to say I've never really considered Fable II (didn't play the first) to have an engaging story. Especially considering it's an RPG; I've seem similar story telling from action and/or platformer game/s. So I'm quite surprised to see a book about it. I just hope it does a better job of opening up fans to Fable's story-telling elements more so than the actual games.

I'm pretty certain this book will be sold in stores. If that's the case, make damn certain you pick it up online.

Is the book going to sold in bookstores? I hope the code is just an addition to buying the book then, otherwise it may be slightly depressing to buy the book (strictly for reading the book, of course) and finding the code to be useless after somebody just jotted down the code and activated it without buying the book.

@CosmicSaber I massively doubt your ability to properly identify spelling and grammar errors judging by your own spelling and grammar.
CosmicSaber
Wow I red there into of chapter one and I found the book very emotionally compelling, but it seems either the website or the book has a good amount of spelling/ Grammar errors. All in all I think it will be a good read.

First I am hearing of this, it's an interesting Idea. I liked the Mass Effect books because it gave a deeper understanding of the ME Universe... (I'm not finished with the second one yet, it's not my favourite thus far)
But I'm weary of the weapon DLC. Mainly because there are weapons in Fable 2 that are specifically designed to drain more energy from 'good' characters or 'evil characters' or even 'balverines and hobbits'
So with this being the Order of the Balverines, I have a slight feeling it's a Sword that has double effect on Balverines but little effect on anyone else.

what's weird is that other websites reported this already middle August so what took so long for you guys to post this?

I can't wait to read this. I love balverines. I hope we get to see what it's like to be a balverine. It's probably pretty freakin' awesome.
