Capcom’s downloadable prequel Dead Rising 2: Case Zero now holds the Xbox Live record for best week one sales of any title ever released on Microsoft’s digital platform.
No specific figures have been released, but Gamasutra reported yesterday that over 300,000 players have posted scores on the game’s official leaderboards just in its first week of release. Solid.
The 400 Microsoft Point ($5) title follows Dead Rising 2 star Chuck Greene and his daughter, Katey, as they fight their way through the infected town of Still Creek, bridging the gap between the original Dead Rising and the upcoming Dead Rising 2. Like the scores of people who've downloaded the game so far, we had a blast with it. Check out our review for more on why you might like it too.
How many of you have downloaded Case Zero? Do you think you’ll pick up Dead Rising 2 because of it, or do you think you’ll stick with the downloadable title for a while?
Should the need arise, feel free to E-Mail me your tips, suggestions, and/or personal philosophies, or follow me on Twitter.

Everybody loves to kill a zombie or two and this is just more proof of that fact.

i wish there was a free mode after you beat the game like dead rising 1

This really was a awesome idea on Capcoms side. I played through it twice the day I downloaded it, got 2 endings, and all but one achievement. I have no idea how it bridges the story at all though???

it was a great way to demo what we're going to expect from DR2, and i was happy to spend the five dollars. what really satisfied me were the achievement points you get a chance to unlock.

do i need the first one to play this after I download it, just asking

Will now pick up DR2 because of Case Zero. It was a very good buy.

I was surprised to wake up one morning and see that this game was only 5 bucks! definitely bought it the first day and it's the best 5 bucks i've ever spent

I'd have to say that this is definitely the best game ever released for $5 on XBLA. Of course I might be a bit biased having played the first one when it was released and having the High Stakes Edition of DR2 already pre-ordered, but just the fact alone that your character stats and combo cards transfer over to DR2 makes this one a no-brainer, never mind the fact that it's already just a great game in general. And to those complaining that it's a "paid demo", then you clearly must not have actually played it, because it has a whole separate storyline from what's in the retail game.

Surely you must know Frank West is the best journalist on the planet. He's covered wars you know.

Capcom's marketing strategy is pure genious. I wasn't sure if I was going to pick up the game but Case Zero changed my mind. This download is more than just a demo: the player can follow the main story, rescue survivors, and explore the town. It does a great job of giving the players a sneak peak into Dead Rising 2. I played through Case Zero twice just to make sure I didn't miss anything (and I did). I also like how my character will start near level 6 when DR2 comes out. The fact that I get to keep the levels I gained in Case Zero makes me feel oddly obligated to buy DR2 and keep my zombie killing up to standard. It's a great value for $5 and will likely succeed in its purpose to convert the gamers on the fence. Genious.

i'd call it a snack with perks. was expecting it to be bigger than what it was though.

$5 to play a demo. That's what it is.

I was a little unimpressed when i played this at a buddy's house, Looking forward to dr2 and 5$ sounds good but it was not that good IMO.

the price was right and I knew what the content was so I downloaded Case Zero as soon as it was available. I'm definitely want to get Dead Rising 2 when it arrives, specially to make use of my level 5 Chuck Greene.

its about dam time this game got credit, DR2 is gonna be the best

Such a great deal I almost got it and I've never played or cared for the first one, games just as good go for $15 or $10.

More games should follow this treand & they should all be priced at $5.
I was gonna pick up Dead Rising 2 regardless. But the ability to transfer my character into the DR2 just makes it win.

It looks great but I don't own an xbox. I will be picking up the game though! I just don't understand why they made this an exclusive to xbox because ps3 owners did'nt get to play the first. No i won't know all the references to the first if there is any.

I loved this and I think it gives you a perfect slice of what to expect from the retail game, without ruining anything from the story. Great job Capcom! And yes, I got the A rated ending. :)

Case Zero isnt bad for five bucks. I wish the game loads, at least for the DR2CZ, werent so long. Going back to the safe zone to collect the bike parts is a bit annoying on the 4th and 5th part deliveries
