Our own Abbie Heppe and Kevin Kelly teamed up on the show floor at PAX Prime 2010 to discuss Gearbox Software’s newly announced Duke Nukem Forever, the game that refused to die and is now headed to consoles and PC next year. Both of them had a chance to go hands-on with the next-gen Duke, and here's what they had to say about reuniting with one of gaming's most iconic characters:

Gonna be honest, but I have not once ever played a Duke Nukem game. I always heard about it from friends who loved the games, but kinda passed it off. This game, from what I've seen and earlier leaks, looks like it's gonna be AWESOME and bring in new fans, like myself. Hell, I might as well go back and play some the old ones too!
As far as this goes, the Duke is back!

I hope this game is awesome but I just don't think any game can possibly live up to 12 years of hype. Also, if Duke Nukem Forever is actually being made then it looks like we'll have to turn to Beyond Good and Evil 2 to bag on for never coming out. :)

I going to have to urge that people don't spit on this or try to jump on this band wagon. We know almost nothing about this game. No game footage, little to no interviews, and not even some real game pics. All we know is that 2k games and Gearbox are developing this game.
I myself am glad that this game is close to being done, but I am skeptical about it's quality. I know some people have asked if the character of Duke Nukem is relevant or will be appealing to gamers of this generation. And my answer to that is, Hell Yes Duke is relevant in games and will most certainly be appealing to gamers! Duke Nukem is almost the perfect character to embody gaming, with his wise ass/potty mouth and his kick ass and take names attitude is almost a perfect representation of why we play video games. To feel like a bad ass and there is no one more Bad Ass-ish than the Nuke-ster!
