GDC 2010: Sony Motion Controller Officially Called PlayStation Move

Today is PlayStation Move day here at G4. We've been playing around with Sony's new motion control device for a while now, and today we can tell you all about it. You're fortunate.

Let's start with the big one: Our overall impressions of the technology.

Of course you can't judge a control system without games, so here's a look at the games we played:

And finally, here's a couple of games that use Move as an add-on as opposed to a centerpiece:

Overall: It's a pretty mixed bag, I think you will agree, but the Move shows a lot of potential. I can't wait to see more games and more uses for the device.

I already have this preordered and I have Move-compatible games like RE5: Gold Edition, MAG, and Heavy Rain so I look forward to all the fun and I also read that even though the $99 bundle comes with a demo disc that'll have 11 demoes that those demoes will also be released on PSN for those who just got the accessories separately, mainly the people who already owned an Eye camera, so that was good to hear cause I wouldn't mind trying out those demoes as well. As for what will my 1st Move-exclusive game be, well I'll have to think about it cause there more than one that have me interested but either way I look forward to it and someone mentioned earlier that they'll try it before they'll make their decision, and I think that's the right way to go about game-related products, especially if it's hardware.

i'll have to get my hands on it in order to make a decision.
i'll probably still get it right so i can be prepared for all the better games that come out later.

I do like the idea of being able to choose between the move or the controller to play some of the more hardcore titled games

Will the Move have some kind of rumble feature? Cause I would still like to feel some rumbling when I start shooting or something.

with move and kinect the reviews are probably gonna be all over the table because the interactive gameplay appeals to different people and different parts of the game will feel more unique then others. until these games get more in depth i wouldnt take any reviews to heart.

I'm looking forward to the review of that spell casting game, wasn't it called Sorcery?

The stage demo of it looked pretty interesting. However I'd expect most games coming out of the gate to be a little light on depth as they are trying to get it out the door and give people options to choose from rather than one title. Let's hope the shotgun method doesn't produce only mediocre titles and cuts the titles that would have been better.

I'd like to see motion control not be completely worthless.

Thats really interesting because Gameinformer said it was really good. Personally i trust G4 more but i wonder if it's just going to be mixed all over the board when it launches.
