The streets of Liberty City can be mesmerizing, terrifying, and gorgeous, but GTA IV’s third-person perspective creates a barrier of sorts to full player immersion simply because you're seeing the world over Niko Bellic's shoulder. Well, no more…at least, for PC players in the market for a new mod for Rockstar Games’ juggernaut of a crime game that turns GTA IV into a first-person shooter. Check out the mod in action in the video below, and see just how different the city looks from the FPS perspective

EPIC if only it came for ps3... but all the same EPIC

This needs to be an available option on console... the way The Elder Scrolls Series let you switch between first and third gives us the best of both worlds, so if we ever needed third its just a click away.

Maybe it's just me, but I've NEVER felt a greater sense of immersion playing a game in the 1st person, rather than the 3rd. Never bought into that idea. I'm always acutely aware that I'm controlling an avatar either way, whether I can see him or not.

It's an enteresting idea,we can see many small detailes that never noticed before, for example realistic moves while driving, but clearly we have very small angle of vision and we miss something which we noticed with original view, the angle is too small, its harder to defend ourselves

LC dosen't look great in first person

Driving would drive me even more insane. I can't stand the GTA series w/o a long 3rd person view in cars (though even then I've never liked their angle and constantly tilt my right stick)...Otherwise looks solid. PC mods are awesome and are definitely a good reason to play the series on PC (I remember back in the day just loving the ability to have a skin of Kaneda's famous red bike from Akira for one of them)...

Xbox 360 is the best console to play FPS, I never liked FPS until halo 1, so this would get me to buy GTA I love being in inside a world.
Infinityman
If I could play this way on my 360, I would maybe be inclined to actually finish the damned game.

Man I wish thiswas for the xbox 360. It really makes you relize all the attition to detail that rockstar put in the game

Niiiice. I like it. If only PC gaming wasn't so darned expensive, I'd be all over that.
