Atlus Web Site Hacked, Fans Warned To Check Their Systems For Viruses And Malware

Atlus Games, the company behind the Shin Megami Tensei series and my personal favorite Trauma Team, has been dissolved. Atlus's parent company, Index Holdings, announced today that it is steamlining its operations and dropping Atlus as an independent entity, although the Atlus brand will continue to exist in some capacity. How this will affect Atlus in terms of the American market remains to be seen, but the company says Atlus games currently in the works will likely continue.

The awesome thing about a weird Japanese game company like Atlus is its ability to make left-of-center titles that could never be released by "major" game companies, like Catherine, an adults-only RPG/horror game for the PS3 and 360. Catherine is apparently 80 percent finished, and is due out in Japan soon. Work continues on the title, for now.
