2K Marin has kept the post-launch downloadable content for BioShock 2 squarely focused on expanding the multiplayer (or fleshing out a specific gameplay component as was the case with the “Protector Trials”). Fortunately, the narrative of BioShock 2 will receive a much appreciated (and final) expansion thanks to the previously announced “Minerva’s Den” DLC, which we now know will be released for PlayStation 3 ($9.99) and Xbox 360 (800 Microsoft Points) on August 31. Sorry, PC players. No release date for you just yet.
"Minerva's Den" plays out across Rapture Central Computing, an entirely new explorable area of Andrew Ryan’s failed underwater utopia. Players will face off against some beefier Splicers than previously seen, as well as a brand new Big Daddy type, the Lancer.
Thankfully, you’ll have a new plasmid and a new weapon at your disposal to help you out. The Ion Laser puts the power of a deadly energy beam in the palm of your hand (not the palm capable of firing electricity; the other one), while the Gravity Well plasmid lets you create mini black holes that devour anything and anyone unfortunate enough to be in its general vicinity.
Check back next week for our proper verdict for “Minerva’s Den,” and in the meantime, browse through our photo gallery for some shots of the DLC in action.

too much DLC at the same time. Though I am more excited about the Bioware DLC, we'll have to see how this turns out.

Congrats on releasing DLC, 2KMarin. Your game still sucks.

poor 2K marin. As soon as that trailer for infinite came out, they immediately lost about 70% of the Bioshock 2 fanbase
