We’re baaaaaack! Yep. Gamescom 2010 is in the books, and the G4 crew that were in the field, myself included, have wandered on back to our (sadly) sausage-less cubicles. Anyway, speaking of getting back to the old grind, Feedback is filming today, and, as always, we want to know what’s on your minds at this particularly point in your gaming lives. Adam Sessler, Abbie Heppe, Kevin Kelly, and myself will be sitting down in a little while to discuss the past week’s hottest news, including a highlight reel of sorts about Gamescom, the upcoming Left 4 Dead DLC, RealtimeWorlds’ firing/hiring drama, and more.
But if there’s something special you’d like us to discuss, or you just want to know what Kevin really thinks about spaetzle, then post your questions in the comments section below. Danke!

So what does Kevin really think about spaetzle?

you guys may have answered this question in the past and if so I'm sorry, but I have always wondered if each of you guys could have one game in any genre by any studio using any IPs what would it be and why?

Dear feedback,
I was wondering if you all are as disgusted as I am with the online gaming community? The last time I joined a Modern Warfare 2 game, I said "hello" and somebody gave an immediate response of a sexually demeaning word. I'm starting to get really tired of all the sexism in Call of Duty and other games. Do you all at feedback think that the online gaming community will mature anytime soon?

Can someone explain to me why Destination Arcade is only temporary? I really like this feature and don't understand why it isn't a permanent part of the Xbox Live Marketplace.

Hello gang, as a professional nerd who also poses as a high school history teacher I've noticed that many games in recent years (Assassins creed, Red Dead Redemption) have gone to a great deal of trouble to be somewhat historically accurate. Do you feel that schools should allow teachers to include segments from historically accurate video games in their curriculum?
Keep up the great work guys. I make my students to watch you for homework.

Do developers miss the boat with DLC? Most DLC is released way after the games release and with no guarantee it will actually arrive. Why can't they advertise DLC on the box. Hey, Mass Effect and Crackdown 2 DLC sounds great, too bad I sold those games months back to afford future titles.

Dear feedback,
I ve been playing MMO s for 13 years ever since Ultima Online was released. Increasingly over the last couple of years I have found that game companies have been making design decisions that seem to be based solely on profit making. I know that making a profit has always been a major part of all game design, but the design philosophy the MMO designers used was to make a game that is fun knowing that would lead to sales and subscriptions. Now it seems that more and more design decisions (probably being pushed by the accountants) are being made that are about profit only without ANY regard to the fun factor. The current flirtation of free-to-play games where you have to buy far too many items in game is an example of this. Most people I ve seen accept this model not because they like it, but because they feel they have no choice.
My question to you is do you think this almost greed driven design philosophy could eventually kill the MMO genre? And do you think if these troubled economic times continue, could this design philosophy become more prevalent in the design of single player games?

Recently, I heard that a required class in a college in Indiana put Portal on the " reading" list.
To see that video games have evolved to the point where they are considered sophisticated
enough to be used to educated people about such a topic as humanity is astounding to me.
My question to you guys is..
How far do you think video games have come in the last few years?
Have people finally stopped looking down on games and realized their worth?
Or is this teacher really, really cool?

With the news that Mass Effect 2 will be shipping to PS3 in the near future, the fans of both systems (PS3 and Xbox 360) have seemed to re-ignite the "console war" over which console has the best exclusives, and ultimately, the best console. Do you think that this constant rivalry has turned potential consumers away from both systems, or has ignited some publicity, whether good or bad, that could draw in more curious buyers? As always, great show.

to the Sess,
i was actually wondering with all the big franchises coming out this Hpoliday season and also all the focus on Move and Kinect what is your thoughts on next year. By this i mean we are seeing the end of Halo atleast for now and Gears 3 coming out in the spring well that puts Microsofts 2 powerhouse franchises out of the game for fall and theyve been alternating every year. Sony has Resistance 3, Infamous, Ratchet and a number of other exclusive titles, so what does this mean for Microsofts 2011 holiday season? all i can think of is maybe Left for Dead 3 possibly and now even Mass Effect 2 will be releasing for the PS3. So what do you think we might see from Microsoft next year and do you think they might be in some trouble as far as exclusive franchises? Thanks Sess and friends :)

I recently bought Borderlands for my PC and was disappointed with the lousy job done porting the game to the PC. With the staggering sales of multiple MMO's and more recently, SCII, its obvious that the PC game market is far from dead, so why do so many game company's avoid making quality ports of their FPS's to the PC?

For the people who were at Gamescon. If you got any time playing Diablo 3, what are your impressions of the game thus far (I realize that it was the Blizzcon 09' build), and your reactions to the announcement of the artisans and other things D3 related?

I have 2 questions actually, so hopefully you'll read at least one of them on the show.
1. There have been numerous single platform exclusives going multi-platform over the past few years. Mass Effect 2 has recently announced it will be available on PS3. Do you think this trend will continue? If so, what do you think will be the next developer or franchise to jump ship?
2. This fall is LOADED with great games. There are a dozen games I'd really like to get, but I don't have the time or money to purchase and play all of them. This sort of happened last fall as well. Quite a few games went into the first quarter both years. However, since around May, we haven't seen many noteworthy releases at all. Red Dead Redemption achieved very good sales despite being released in the early summer, proving to me that gamers will buy great games all year long if given the chance. Do you think that we will ever see a more balanced year in terms of when games are released? Or will the holiday season and first couple months of the year continue to be loaded with games, with nothing to play through the summer?

Guten Tag! Feedback
My question is, after i heard about Insomniac Games say that they are going to a three year development cycle, do you think that if more companies went to a longer cycle that it would be better or worse for the industry. As fans, i know you would rather have a better game in the long run, but how great could it be if we had better games but possible less of them to play at a given time. Also, do you think that more companies will go to a longer development cycle for their flagship games, is this going to be the norm to wait three or more years with how advance the game systems are becoming or is this just one company making a decision for what's best for them?
Danke

As we all know, each genre/sub-genre of games has had their moment of popularity. I can remember a time when the market seemed to be flooded with platformers, or maybe I was just too young to remember any other types of games, but I digress.
At the moment the market seems to be saturated with shooters be they first- or third-person, good or bad. Do you feel that the next big thing in genre of games will one that hasn't enjoyed a string of popular titles, or have all of the bases been covered and we will just continue in a kind of cycle?

What do you guys think of the current controversy surrounding online pay for play for used games? It seems like more and more companies are jumping on board and embracing this concept.
Thanks!

Why do big name titles keep releasing these live action trailers? Trailers and ads are suppose to be 30 to 60 seconds long, there suppose to show off the visuals and give the player a sense of what the game is and how it will play. Instead we're getting mini series in 2 minute chunks. If they want a mini series to tell a story then just make a mini series. They don't seem to have problems making animated movie tie in's so why not just shoot a short live action film.

I was wondering when new DLC for Red Dead Redemption is coming out or if they are coming out with any more.

Why is it every time you get the money saved up for something bad things happen? The wife and I own our house and have been getting ready to throw down some money on games (Halo: Reach, Epic Mickey, and many more). Then we find out there is a nice gas leak under our house. I think the gaming Gods are mad at us.

Dear feedback fellas,
It is clear that you are all collectively unimpressed with kinect's software so far. However it seems with the poor launch titles you are all ready to write off kinect altogether. Poor launch titles have been an inevitable trend since, while, forever. So what makes kinect different from all the other pieces of hardware that have been given crap launch titles?
