Today, Valve announced new DLC for owners of either Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2. As a follow-up to The Passing DLC that was released last March, a new downloadable chapter called The Sacrifice will be released this October for PC, Mac and Xbox 360. It'll be playable with either the L4D or L4D2.
Remember when the original cast from L4D suddenly appeared in The Passing? I bet you were wondering when you'd get to find out what the story was with that. With The Sacrifice, the mystery will be solved as you get the chance to play the story of The Passing from the perspecitve of the cast of L4D. This time, however, Valve has added a choose your own adventure element as you get to decide which member of the original cast dies at the end of The Sacrifice. I bet that has something to do with why they named it The Sacrifice. Noodle that around a bit and get back to me.
The Sacrifice will also feature a retooled No Mercy level (the hospital level from the original game), playable with cast members from both L4D and L4D2. The Sacrifice will be out in October as a free download for PC and Mac players, but you'll have to pay if you want to play it on your Xbox 360. Start saving your points and your outrage now.

I don't have a XBOX but why the hell do you have to pay for the DLCS? wow is like you gotta pay something all cause you have a hard drive

this is gonna be an epic chapter in the left 4 dead series i mean everyone is wondering "what happened to the original survivors after the new survivors left"

What is everyone's obsession in getting the DLC for BOTH games, if you have both, get it for the one you play more...simple as that...if your contemplating getting both for solely achievements, dude, your an idiot, and you deserve to waste your money on buying something twice.

IF you have Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 on the 360. Do you have to pay twice for the DLC for both games.

Valve should make a poll after the DLC comes out to find out which L4D member was killed off the most..... I'm curious to see how many times lewis perishes.... lol

Microsoft is like a slave owner with these prices for DLC. The PC version always offers free DLC updates while Microsoft hires some guy from India to take my customer service call about their XBOX Elite I have that has broke 3 times.Mind you that the guy can't even understand me so has to transfer me to someone who speaks better English. Sorry guys I just raged on this post :-)

I'm glad I bought L4D2 on steam when it was only $20. All the DLC and updates are free. :)

it would be kinda sweet if left 4 dead 3 had 4 of the characters from the first 2....(which would mean that 3 more,including bill, would have to die) it would suck though cause i really like all the characters and wouldnt want any of them to die... especially louis, rochelle, and coach (lol i like when the black people actually survive) but i know that would never happen because a 3/4 cast of survivors being black with 1 other survivor of other ethnicity... imagine how funny it would be if that other survivor was francis..... AWKWARD!

im sacrificing lewis.... his AI just seems to get less kills, and he annoying.

The first time I ever played Left 4 Dead 2 some random player in a quick-match ask me if I had the gnome achievement, and of course I didn't. He and the other survivors helped me get the achievement. It took us few tries. A tank knocked me out the helicopter on first go around. It's a great game, with a great fan-base.

Hrmmm can't wait for this! Hopefully the new level brings a new uncommon zombie type and a new weapon like the passing did. Cant wait to play No Mercy with L4D2 stuff

I've been asking about this for months with no answers. When the passing was realeased, the understanding was that this DLC would release about a month later. I was beginning to wonder if it would ever come out. I'm glad that it will finally be released and I finally got my answer.
