UPDATED 12:55PM PST: Looks like the site has gone live 12 hours or so early. Not sure why, but it has, so if you want to add your point of light, head over now.
The last thing Halo lovers need at this point is yet another way to express their undying love for Bungie’s juggernaut of a franchise, however Microsoft has just announced a new user-generated promotion for the crazy anticipated Halo: Reach designed to build a virtual “monument of light commemorating the heroes of Noble Team and the planet Reach.”
The monument building will take place at RememberReach.com, and will give visitors the chance to contribute to a “continually regenerating sculpture composed of thousands of points of light” that will be constructed thanks to a moveable robotic arm and specially built camera equipment that “captures and composites the movements and light pulses from the robotic arm.”
Bungie will also be releasing new live-action shorts on the site from director Noam Murro, who directed the previous “Birth of a Spartan” Reach short. The new videos will provide a brief look at planet Reach prior to its fall. The final short, “Deliver Hope,” will be released on Halo.Xbox.com, Halo Waypoint, and www.bungie.net on August 26.
The light monument building doesn’t commence for another 13 hours, which should be just enough time to figure out how this whole sculpture thing is going to work. Any ideas?
