I'll admit it: When Peter Molyneux introduced the Milo tech-demo at E3 2009, I was among the many who made jokes about potential uses for the little-boy simulator. But I'm not laughing anymore.

Peter Molyneux recently gave a TED talk where he went a little more in-depth on what Milo is and how it works, and it's a lot less like a joke and a lot more like unbridled awesome.  I get it now... I could see how you could use Kinect to create a truly unique gaming experience. See if this talk doesn't change your mind too.

Thats what I like about Microsoft there trying to blow apple out the water, not PS3, Nintendo. So when I'm 50 I can say I was there in the beginning. SOrry sony ponies but we are at another level. By we I mean gamers who have an xbox360, this is why we play. Not brand names or blue ray.

So much potential. Fable 5 will be awesome. At the same time it makes me think of Hey You Pikachu if anyone remembers that.

This type of tech is completely beautiful i love how technology can evolve and broaden our future i cant wait for Milo and other games like that to come on the kinect.

Cool demo, but i'm not completely convinced yet on how well this works. I want to see what would happen if Milo came in to his room and instead of reassuring him you said "your parents are right you a worthless child" because all his responses were pretty generic. They would work with most any reassuring things you say. I'm not saying I don't think it works at all, but like Monlynuex said himself most of it is trick.

wow thats really cool tech. Milo was pretty cool, but the interactivity is amazing! Imagine what they could do with this.
On another thought; does this mean Kinect will now recognize that your sitting down?

Why is everyone so impressed? Like he said its all smoke and mirrors like a large quick time event. You can even see when he "talked" to Milo in his room Milo's responses were very vague and could have been triggered by almost anything.

Now if you got this working on something like Heavy Rain then we can talk. But for now its just a big old RPG/QTE with mini-games thrown in.

I think this technology has a lot of potential, but I don't think that Milo the game will be very fun or successful. Imagine if this technology was implemented into a game like Oblivion or Fallout, where your character interacts with NPC's face to face. Now that is a game that I would want to play.

I think Milo has tremendous potential to inspire developers and to show consumers what kinect is capable of, but I'm still not entirely convinced that demo was real. The fact that every piece of animation seemed unique just makes me skeptical. I'm not saying the things they did aren't possible, but it seems as if the moments of interaction are very rigid. As with all things Molyneux does, it seems very ambitous but it will probably not meet his lofty goals as usual.

I'm not nor will I ever be sold on Kinect, or for that matter motion control as a whole is something I don't bother with. However I do see interesting potential with the development of an AI a player can interact with. Granted Milo seems to be more based on predetermined responses to specific stimuli, but under the context that this would be the beginning stages of the development of truly responsive AI in games. Take something like Mass Effect and add in the elements of NPC's directly responding to a player on those small subtle levels of communication.

I'm still not impressed. Now, if they release a lollipop and windowless van peripherals, then I'm all on board.

(I'm still in the joke phase)

I'm pretty sure you can do all that with PSeye and move.

This game seems interesting but I'm a little confused, are we suppose to be figments of Milo's imagination?
Also it looks like everyone who thought kinect couldn't handle people sitting down while using it were wrong

Far more impressed with this than anything I've seen using kinect.

Its a really expensive Tamagotchi, stop supporting these horrible ideas and force developers to go back to making games people actually want to play on the systems we paid $200-$300 to own.

Another reason why sometimes the outside world can be more interesting. Why go outside and interact with people when you can do it from the comfort of your living room
