At Gamescom this morning, Pro Evolution Soccer 11 was given a release date. You'll be able to play it on September 30 for the PS3, 360 and PC, and in October for the PSP and Wii.
Hmmm... interesting release date. FIFA 11 comes out on the 28th of October, meaning that the world's two biggest soccer franchise are going head-to-head, like Arsenal playing Brazil in a to-the-death football match, with a razor studded ball and twin Uzis for each striker. -- Okay, it's not like that at all, but it is true that Konami and EA have competing soccer games, and in the parts of the world that aren't the U.S., soccer (futbol!) is a really big deal.
Also: They still make the occasional PS2 game. Nostalgia!
So, soccer-game-heads, which game do you think will prove the greatest critical and financial success?

I'm probably gonna be hanging out with PES at some point after it's release. I need me a next gen soccer fix. I'm still breakin out the ps2 for some Winning Eleven 9 occasionally (and thankfully I still have a multitap laying around so more can join the party hahah).

both games are good. i hate that pes can't get offical tags, etc. however, there's a tiny delay in fifa game play that totally turns me off. hope it changes.
would kill for a new rugby game, too.

Man United FTW!! but other then that I like FIFA better because well... FIFA is the official and REAL soccer orginization, so naturally there official game would be better and more realistic, yes?

meh. national teams are never as good as well assembled clubs. teams play together all the time, not every few years.
in video games, though, clearly, the player makes that moot.
