You knew it was coming, right? Everyone (me included) who was bemoaning the fact that Resistance 3 was nowhere to be seen at E3 can now breathe easy: we got the official announcement at Gamescom.
Since the release of Resistance 2, we’ve listened to your feedback to help fine-tune what we know will become a respected addition to the franchise. Our Burbank studio has done a phenomenal job of crafting a cruel and brutal Resistance 3 world. You can catch a glimpse of it by watching the live-action Resistance 3 teaser trailer shown during the PlayStation Press Conference at GamesCom today. Follow @insomniacgames on Twitter and you'll be the first to know when we've uploaded it for you to watch and share with all your friends.
We've seen the trailer already, which features a mix of live action footage and CGI. Keep your dial tuned right here and you can watch it on G4 as soon as we get it. For those of you who are very impatient, you can download some wallpapers for the newly announced title over on Insomniac's website. Finally, right?

A couple of notes: First, awesome! Second, some of the coolest parts of this video are during the train ride, and you have to look really close to see them. It takes a few times too pick up them. Watch the video several times. I keep seeing new things. And third, coinciding with what I just said, I just realized the A in Resistance has the Statue of Liberty in it. Sweet!
I don't know what I'm not seeing that makes the 2nd game so subpar. I thought it was fantastic. Can't wait to see some more info on this one.

I honestly hope they add amazing co-op for storymode that isnt just the same levels over and over again like they did in R2. Dont get me wrong, R2 was fun but the repetition kinda got to me a bit for co-op.
I would LOVE to see a main story for single player where you pick up somewhere where R2 stopped (somehow), and a co-op where you play a group of people trying to survive and get to safety somewhere, wherever that may or may not be.
Throw in competitive like the original had (1-shot kill matches please) without all the "perks" and what not and you've got a winner. I dont mind leveling in competitive, though, as long as its mostly cosmetic and/or for ranking/trophies/bragging rights.
Im extremely psyched regardless, since they finally officially released both this and the next R&C title, which will be co-op as well!

Ok don't take this the wrong way but did anyone else get a L4D vibe from the combat style. Cornered fighting for your life across a bleak landscape where few survivors exist... Before to rage me just know that in the dictionary the definition of PS3 fanboy has a picture of me next to it.

Resistance two rocked.. what the hell is everyone talking about? did they just rent the damn game or something? it's online co-op is unsurpassed, and the campaign really gave you a feeling of fighting a loosing battle.

Please tell me that you can carry all the guns!! The fun of the first one was that you could use all the weapons in every situation, what's the fun of realism in an alien invasion video game when you run out of ammo in the 2 guns you have??? I don't want to HAVE to punch an alien in the face, I want to WANT to punch an alien in the face!! Just go back to having all the guns available and the people that got turned off the 2nd game will come back

I have to hurry up and finish Resistance, go out and buy Resistance 2 and then beat that too. I really liked this video and I can't wait to see what they have done with this sequel.

Resistance would only look great as a movie (to me) I played both games and got bored of them very quickly. Not only that, but the game looks alot like L4D only set in a diffrent time. I dont know but some poeple may just be over hyping the game.

SO glad I don't have a PS3 so I'd be deluded into thinking this is a good series. Super cool trailer though (even if the aliens were too graphically inferior to the real time environment to be believable).
Also, I'm not just being a fanboy. My roommate has a PS3 and once I saw the first scene of R2 I was in awe cuz the first few seconds are so well done, but then the game starts and we were all "wtf is this crap?". Horrible game, I think he returned it that day.

What year is the game set in? I noticed the Gateway Arch in the trailer, and it wasn't built until 1965.

I hope they make it like left for dead series...survival horror in resistance world is what is needed.
