British Classification Board Gives Heavy Rain 15 Rating

Sometimes in gaming, like other creative arenas, the market will play a role in storytelling. Take for example the saga of Heavy Rain DLC: there isn't going to be any more. The team that worked on the original "Chronicles" DLC has been reassigned to work on Move support for Heavy Rain.

Quantic Dream CEO David Cage talked to Joystiq about the move (see what I did there?) and shared his thoughts on the demise of Heavy Rain DLC:

"From a creative point of view it was not my choice. I would have really preferred a thousand times developing the Chronicles. I thought we had a lot to say about these characters, about their background. Things that were just mentioned in the game that had a true explanation in the background, and it's a little bit unfortunate that we won't be able to tell you the full story."

He added, "Honestly, it's not like I'm upset about it, I would have preferred to do it differently but, you know what, it makes sense."

Does it make sense, or do you think for a game that was so heavily rooted in storytelling that not having the chance to tell the rest of the story kills it? Do you think Move support is more important than sharing the backstory of the characters?

This is another example of how new technology comes at a price. I'm saddened by the fact there will be no more DLC simply because motion-control "needs" to be added. "Heavy Rain" is already a good game. I fail to see how developing a Move-version will help. I'm still not sold on motion-control; it seems more of a gimmick than anything else. Next, they will tell out a 3-D revision is in the works. Adding motion-control and 3-D aren't selling points for the game.

I at first thought that move would be awesome in theory, but I've changed my mind. With the move should be a all new design system for the game. I can't see being in a scripted fight being fully immersed, I want to be able to actually fight the guy in the surroundings I have. Fight how I fight, not follow a set path. I can see the interaction being good to but from what I heard it's not. The Move edition is starting to depress me.

Screw Move support, If I wanted to jiggle a stick around while watch a girl take a shower I wouldn't be playing the PS3.

Well, this is pretty much this industry in a nut shell. You can't trust anyones word. I remember looking forward to DLC for this game, and after it was announced that more than one was coming I eagerly awaited their releases. Then I heard that instead of getting more gameplay that will help further the story and characters, we were getting waggle support....

True DLC that strenghtens the story and characters VS. Waggle support.

Hmmmm, I wonder which one the fans of this game ACTUALLY wanted. Sony, I love ya, but you really made a bad choice on this one. You touted this game so much, and pretty much gave the finger to the fans who bought it.

I don't think backstory for the characters in DLC is important at all, I felt the game and the characters stood up well enough as is. That's not to say it wouldn't have been welcome. And it's rather disappointing that Sony deemed being able to add one more port to the list of Playstation Move titles more important. Because even if I don't feel that backstory DLC is at all necessary for Heavy Rain, I'd much rather have it than a Playstation Move port I'm never going to play.

They're not just adding it for those who have the game, they're adding it for potential new players.

I dont want DLC, I want great games with content already in there at the time of purchase. We already pay 60 bucks for the game, that is quite enough already thank you. I do not want Move or motion sensing garbage either. I have zero interest in that nonsense.
