Fresh from Quakecon comes the announcement that id Software's Rage won't be released until September September 13, 2011, so we all have more than a year to wait to play this first-person shooter from the makers of Doom.
Some interesting new details were dropped at the Con as well, including the existence of some mini games, some sweet-looking vehicles, multiplayer races for in-game cash and more.
Rage won't feature large cut-scenes. The story will be largely propelled through in-game action. As far as the gameplay goes, thre tactical options were shown: Auto-turrets, RC bomb cars, or plain old gunplay. If you prefer mixing it up man to man, the game supports melee combat too.

Nerdgasm!!! This game looked so sick at E3, I can't wait! Now I can request off at work for when this comes out, hahaha!

I'm ok with this game coming out next year because there are so many titles that are coming out near the end of this year and its gonna make gamers spend so much on games that they will never get to play their next game they have or don't have. But... September?!?!? I would have expect it to come out sooner like, january or Febuary...or March.

I'm really lookin forward to this one,I might be the minority on this but I just couldn't get into Borderlands and Fallout 3 that much.
so hopefully this one will be a different apocalyptic game from what I've seen already

Id can take as long as they want to finish this one. Because I know when I go to hand over the cash to purchase it, I'm going to be 100% sure that my money was well spent. Hell even if it did release right this second it be worth every single cent. But still, I can stand to wait it out, I'll still be too busy rockin New Vegas till then to notice much.

Simple. They announce games early to get hype, which equals investors... if you had money and saw this game wouldnt you want to invest to make money?
This could quite possibly be a better game than Fallout3... which would mean best game ever.

Already one of my must buys for 2011. I was already blown away at its E3 demo, and I really don't care on how long I've gotta wait for this. I'm just glad I don't have to wait too long, and that a game that looks and plays so amazingly well as it does finally has a definite release date. If there's ever a special edition released for this, I'd gladly fork over the extra money for it.

Why the HELL would they annoucne the game so early if they knew it had so long before being released!?!?! I HATE when developers do this. Just wait until 8 months before release and THEN announce the game. From the time this game was announced to the time we are going to actually get to play it is now going to be 2 friggin years, since they announced it a while ago.
