ZeniMax Media Buys Arkane Studios

Bethesda Softworks and id Software owner ZeniMax Media announced today during QuakeCon 2010 that it has acquired Arx Fatalis developer Arkane Studios.

“We are very pleased to be able to bring another experienced, high quality developer like Arkane to the ZeniMax group of studios,” ZeniMax chairman and CEO Media Robert Altman said in a press release, "Raphael and his talented team have earned a reputation for creating immersive, innovative games which enhances our ability to deliver AAA quality games to our many fans."

In addition to 2002’s Arx Fatalis, Arkane also developed Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and collaborated with 2K on BioShock 2. Arkane and Bethesda are now working on a unannounced title, and…well, that’s all we know about what lies ahead for the newly acquired studio.

ZeniMax purchased Rage developer id Software last June.
