The mystery of Project Icarus has finally been solved, as Ken Levine and his team at Irrational Games, the mad geniuses behind BioShock (when they were formerly known as 2K Boston), have unveiled their next gorgeously detailed and delightfully terrifying endeavor, BioShock Infinite.
The game is set in 1912, and takes place aboard, if that’s the right word, flying city of Columbia, which looks to be the spiritual and philosophical antithesis to Andrew Ryan’s failed underwater utopia of Rapture. Players assume the role of former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt, who has been tasked with tracking down the telekinetically gifted Elizabeth, the figure at the heart of the overarching conflict tearing Columbia apart.
BioShock Infinite is set for release in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

lol@people crying about the setting already.
the first couple of games, being underwater was just an illusion, aka: graphics.
anyway, i was kind of sad that guy didnt get to fall in peace.

I think this whole gaming concept was derived from the visions of a man stricken with late term syphilis...which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

i bet stall has a young apprentice named andrew ryan! since it takes place in 1912. it would be awesome to his inspiration from columbia and the events that made him the deranged entrepreneur we know and love.

I play to be in a new world so I'm glad too see this trailer in the air makes me feel more scared the under the sea. Stop hating and just let it be.

Big Daddy is back, and he is REALLY pissed off.

Am I the only one that kind of wants Bioshock to be over? I loved both 1 and 2 (I even bought the special edition of 2), but I feel like it would have been that much better had there not been a sequel.

Hmmm... This trailer, pretty much shows nothing more than the new scenery, and that the developers can make some really good CG. However, I see this more so as an attempt to milk the franchise just a little longer. I doubt that much will change, in the actual gameplay section, even though I would absolutely love to be wrong. =)

This franchise is a joke to me now. the second one was horrible the first one was great! but this is just disgusting! 2K took ken's masterpiece and ran it right into the ground!

never played the second one but looks like I wont have to! I like the new direction, can't wait to see more.

I'm calling it AEROSHOCK from here on out. That fits better. Awesome looking game though!

It would be a dumb marketing idea to remove 'BioShock' from the title seeing as it is an established franchise. It would have been like Activision failing to include 'Call of Duty' in Modern Warfare 2 .

Is the fact that it's based in 1912 a suggestion for a 2012 release???
As for the actual game, it looks very interesting for it's setting. What is more interesting, however, is that there were no splicers in sight and it looks like a young Sander Cohen. Is this going to be a genesis story about Andrew Ryan and what inspired him really to create Rapture?

So is this BioShock 3, or a spin-off, or does it just have the BioShock name for commerical purposes? I'm pretty confused about what exactly this game is to be honest.

Excellent! I hope the focal point of the plot is to expose the faux-patriotism of those who claim to support "true" American values, like Conservatives in our current political climate, but in reality stand for the very things that are contrary to true patriotism and progress, and set the nation backwards decades while harming and killing fellow citizens.

You know I thought about this one day next up will probably have an underground city
topgamer101
Interesting idea, but I hope Bioshock is removed from the title name. It wouldn't make any sense to be named Bioshock and have your city up in the air.
Either that or revisiting Andrew Ryan's underwater haven or at the very least ties back into a story from the previous games needs to happen to keep the title.

I didn't think that they could create another world as original as rapture, but they did. I think it is called Columbus.
GearsFor Fears
There is no Bioshock without Rapture..
I don't see myself playing this game :/ And I love Bioshock 1 and 2
