Double Fine’s newly outed downloadable title Costume Quest isn’t just some potential project; it’s actually being published by THQ this fall.
As 1UP reports, Costume Quest, headed by Double Fine’s lead animator Tasha Harris, is an adventure-RPG set on Halloween night and tasks players with collecting items that kids typically collect on Halloween (candy, cards, battle stamps, quest assignments, etc.). These items are then used to power up your characters in Combat Mode where players transform into towering versions of their costumed selves to face off against giant beasts.
"We wanted to make a big impression with these, our first downloadable games ever," said Double Fine CEO Tim Schafer. "So we are coming out swinging with two great adventures from two of the most creative minds in the company."
THQ will release the second title, a third-person adventure game, in 2011, but that’s all the info available for the game at this point. Double Fine currently has at least four downloadable titles in development, two of which we now know are being released by THQ. Hopefully this means we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out what Tim Schafer and his fellow Double Finers have planned for the remaining two games.

Brutal Legend was a classic. Not as good as Grim or Psychonauts but DEFINITELY one of the top three. This one looks awesome too. Can't wait to learn more on there other titles.

New DoubleFine Game...? I'll be buying it, especially since it's stroking both my love of RPGs, and my intense obsession with Halloween.

I liked Brutal Legend but eh... the gameplay wasn't very fun. I will still buy this though if its good.

Fix your stupid profanity filter. It blocks words that aren't "bad"...good grief. its hard to post. Anyway, Brutal Legend was garbage. It was just a mash-up of a bunch of game styles - and NONE of it worked.
